Our Client is looking for an experienced cook to work in one of their care homes. They are looking for someone who enjoys being part of a busy care home environment and has a passion for producing high quality meals.

Essential Characteristics:

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Writing, recording, and reporting skills
- Strong belief in treating people with dignity and respect
- Ability to empower people to make their own choices
- Ability to cook
- Ability to follow food safety requirements

Desirable Characteristics:

- Previous experience of working in a care setting
- Qualification(s) in catering would be preferable.
- Qualification(s) in food safety/hygiene would be preferable.

They will provide all the training you need, plus competitive rates of pay and a great place to work in.
Your duties in this role would be:

- To support the preparation, cooking and serving of meals and snacks throughout the day for clients in line with their dietary needs and preferences
- To support the preparation of menus in consultation with clients, cooks and care home managers
- To assist with stock management in conjunction with the cook/care home manager
- Ensure that stock records are maintained as per company requirements
- To maintain food safety checks and records as per company requirements
- To be professional and courteous at all times with clients, colleagues, external professionals, family members, and visitors to the home
- To ensure that you are aware of any company policy and procedures, staff handbook, etc, and ensure that they are adhered to at all times
- To follow any health and safety procedures required of you and to ensure that any health and safety risks are reported to the manager immediately

QCF/NVQ 1 or 2 in Food Hygiene preferred or a willingness to work towards this.

Part-time 18 - 20 hours per week - will need to cover holidays
