_As a home carer, to assist in the provision of care and work as part of a care team to achieve high standards of care and support for Service Users. To ensure Service Users retain their dignity, privacy and individuality. At all times, to be respectful of Service Users personal space._

**What you will need**:

- _A genuine interest in working within a caring environment_
- _Ability to communicate at all levels_
- _Team player_
- _NVQ2/SVQ2 in Health and Social Care or working towards this certificate. At a later date there will be instruction by the SSSC whereby all homecare staff will need to be registered with the SSSC and will need to have the NVQ/SVQ qualification_
- _Experience of working with the relevant Service User group_
- _Satisfactory police check and satisfactory check against the relevant registers within the PVG scheme_

**Main Responsibilities**:

- _Assisting Service Users on all aspects of their care needs (E.G. washing, bathing and dressing) whilst ensuring Service Users retain their comfort and dignity_
- _Ensure you wear gloves and aprons where appropriate (E.G. toileting, personal hygiene and food preparation)_
- _Pay particular attention to assisting Service Users that have limited mobility or physical/learning difficulties, making the best use of aids provided._
- _Encourage Service Users to remain as independent as their ability allows them._
- _Prepare and serve meals, drinks and snacks. Ensuring you clean work surfaces and tidy up afterwards_
- _Provide assistance with toileting and with changing clothes and/or bedding where necessary_
- _Record in service user's log sheet what you did for the service user at each visit This should reflect what is in the care plan._
- _Closely monitor Service Users who may be confused and I or who have behavioural problems
- Report any issues to your line manager._
- _Assist in the delivery of care for Service Users who are dying or who have a progressive illness._
- _Make and change beds, ensuring that rooms are clean and tidy, and commodes are emptied._
- _Ensure full privacy and dignity is maintained for the dying._
- _Encourage independence in activities of daily living, providing assistance when required._
- _Report any changes in a Service User's health to your line manager._
- _Take part in staff meetings._
- _Take part in Service User review meetings and contribute to personal care planning._
- _Ensure Service Users are respectably and comfortably dressed and that they are appropriately groomed i.e. hair brushed, shaved. make-up applied where appropriate._
- _Ensure Service User's clothing, chair/bed, table and surrounding floor is clean_
- _Report accidents / incidents involving Service Users or staff to your line manager at the earliest opportunity so that it can be recorded in the accident or incident register._
- _To clean up spillages as they occur using appropriate equipment._
- _Assist other colleagues in their duties as requested by the Manager._
- _Participate in the Care Inspection of the service_
- _Log in and out of every visit so as to generate visits on the CM2000 programme_
- _Participate in supervision meetings
- Bring forward ideas_
- _To undergo any training needed to provide the appropriate care required for service users._
- _Comply with Manual Handling legislation when working with service users_
- _To report any defects observed in service user's equipment._
- _To assist in administration of medication to Level C service users_

**Salary**: £11.10-£12.00 per hour
