**E*ngage **G**row **G*o, is a homeless charity with an innovative person-centred approach to homelessness and rough sleeping. We aim to mentor homeless people in life skills, support them into appropriate accommodation and into sustainable employment.
**Scope of role**
The Charity Support Worker plays a pivotal role in assisting individuals with lived experience of homelessness in securing stable accommodation and gaining meaningful employment. This multifaceted role involves working as part of the EGG team, building trust, providing practical assistance, collaborating with other agencies and organizations, and contributing to fundraising efforts to support these individuals in their journey to to change their lives, get off the streets, build and maintain new lives for themselves.
**Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities**
- **Client Engagement**: Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients who have experienced homelessness, ensuring their needs and aspirations are understood and respected.
- **Accommodation Assistance**: Assist clients in finding suitable housing options, including liaising with landlords, housing agencies, and other appropriate parties, while ensuring housing stability.
- **Employment Support**: Provide job-seeking guidance, employment training, and assistance in securing employment opportunities for clients, aligning with their skills and aspirations.
- **Collaboration with Other Agencies**: Work closely with other agencies and organisations providing support to individuals with lived experience of homelessness, fostering partnerships and coordinating services for comprehensive client care.
- **Fundraising**: Contribute to fundraising efforts by participating in fundraising events to secure financial resources for EGG’s programmes and services.
- **Assessment and Goal Setting**: Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' housing and employment needs, collaborating with them to set achievable goals.
- **Advocacy**: Advocate on behalf of clients to secure necessary support services, housing accommodations, and employment opportunities, working with relevant agencies and organisations.
- **Case Management**: Develop and maintain individualised person-centred support plans for clients, tracking progress towards housing and employment goals.
- **Referrals**: Identify and connect clients to relevant support services, such as mental health counselling, addiction treatment, legal aid, benefits, and skills training programs.
- **Life Skills Support**: Offer guidance and training in essential life skills, including budgeting, cooking, job readiness, and personal development where required.
- **Documentation**: Maintain accurate records of client interactions, assessments, referrals, and outcomes in accordance with EGG policies.
- **Crisis Management**: Respond to emergencies and critical incidents effectively, collaborating with emergency services when necessary.
- **Community Engagement**: Collaborate with local organisations, government agencies, and volunteers to enhance community support for individuals transitioning out of homelessness.

**Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience**
**Essential**:
- The ability to engage with homeless people and those with experience of homelessness.
- A good understanding of complex issues that affect the lives of people with experience of homelessness
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Highly organised, with excellent administrative skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of clients and professionals.
- An understanding of homelessness and the work and aims of **EGG**.
**Desirable**:
- A knowledge of homelessness services and housing options for homeless people in the Greater Manchester area.
- Previous experience in a similar role within the homelessness sector, with a focus on accommodation and employment support.
- Knowledge of and experience with case management, housing assistance, and employment placement services.
- Familiarity with local social services, housing resources, and employment networks.
