**Background**

Severfield plc (the ‘Company’, together with its subsidiaries, the ‘Group’) is a United Kingdom-based specialist structural steelwork company. The Group is the UK's market leader in the design, fabrication and construction of structural steel. The Group consists of two newly created divisions, Severfield Commercial and Industrial (C&I) and Severfield Nuclear and Infrastructure (N&I). The Group operates from six UK sites which provide unrivalled capacity and capability, employs over 1,600 staff, and has expertise in large, complex projects across a broad range of end markets. High profile projects include new stadiums for Everton F.C and Tottenham Hotspur F.C., Wimbledon Centre Court (roof) and No.1 Court (roof), Victoria & Albert Museum (Dundee), The Shard, Leadenhall Tower, 22 Bishopsgate, the new Google headquarters at Kings Cross (all in London) and the Co-op Live Arena.

With revenues of c.£333m, Commercial and Industrial is the Group’s largest division. It has three main operational facilities, Dalton in North Yorkshire, Lostock in Lancashire, and Ballinamallard in Northern Ireland which together combine high volume structural steel production with specialist design and engineering expertise to deliver a complete service to clients from project concept to completion. Severfield (C&I) has an overall capacity of around 120,000 tonnes of fabrication steelwork per year, the most extensive product range and capability in the industry and its own highly skilled erection teams.

**The role - Head of Manufacturing Finance**

**Personal qualities**:

- A practical “hands-on” approach coupled with an eye for detail, and the commercial acumen to play a full part in supporting the growth of the business.
- Strong technical and analytical skill, together with experience of working in the manufacturing sector, ideally in a PLC environment.
- A creative thinker and a team player, able to multitask and react to changing priorities.
- An excellent communicator, with the confidence and credibility to support board members/commercial colleagues with the resolve, resilience, and ability to deliver results to deadlines.
- Track record of project delivery, including cross-functional engagement where necessary to ensure delivery in line with project plan.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Ownership of the newly created Group manufacturing P&L ensuring accurate budgeting/forecast and holding the manufacturing organisation accountable for the delivery of these.
- Contribute fully to the development of a company strategy across all areas of manufacturing including buying, quality, planning, maintenance, fabrication, paint and logistics, challenging assumptions, and decision-making as appropriate and providing financial analysis and guidance on business performance versus targets/budgets.
- Provide commercial financial support and a business partnership service to senior Group Manufacturing colleagues adopting a theme of continuous improvement.
- Drive operational efficiency targets identified by the business confirming the different owners are taking responsibility for their areas and providing them with financial analysis to assist in achieving these targets.
- Significant involvement in financial planning including the setting of budgets, quarterly forecasts, and strategic projections.
- Report on monthly manufacturing performance by project including financial analysis on lessons learned to allow the business to continuously improve and presentation of such information at local monthly board meetings on a periodic basis.
- Improve the quality of the financial information within the manufacturing organisation, drive systems development and develop procedures to improve the quality of information available.
- Liaising with HR and conducting monthly reviews of recruitment requirements within the manufacturing organisation ensuring we have the appropriate headcount, and the forecasts reflect any changes.
- Present at monthly reviews with the manufacturing management team covering areas such as overhead spend, analysis of overhead recoveries, NCR reporting, stock, and analysis of paint performance, for a growing international facility.
- Responsibility for the capex process for the business including review and challenge of investment appraisals for significant business transactions and tracking of associated future benefits.
- Further development of tools to allow us to deliver KPI reporting and measure business performance
- Ad hoc financial information required by the Divisional Finance Director or the Group Manufacturing Director.
