**HSE MANAGER / CREWKERNE - PERMANENT VACANCY**
**Location**: Crewkerne, Somerset
**Job type**: Permanent contract
**Reporting to**: Managing Director
**Hours**: Monday to Friday 08:00am - 17:00pm (39 hours per week), may also require to work the odd night shift following any incidents ect
**Salary**: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum
Hawk 3 Talent Solutions, operating as an employment agency, are currently recruiting for a Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to join our client in Crewkerne on a permanent contract.
**Duties as a HSE Manager**:
To stay abreast of environmental, health and safety legislation and create robust management systems to proactively comply with such legislation.
Translate the management system into actions required across the plant.
Work with the management team to ensure that every reasonably practicable measure has been taken to ensure site safety.
Responsible for developing and integrating environmental, health and safety management system across all site personnel.
Responsible for ensuring that ALL employees receive suitable environmental, health and safety training so that they work to company legislative safety requirements.
Working with HR to ensure that all staff, visitors, contractors, temporary workers etc. comply with relevant environmental, health and safety requirements including induction training.
Develop and progress the site annual safety plan and environmental management programme.
Ensure plant management are aware and informed of legislative requirements and that they are translated into actions and included in the management system.
Responsible and accountable for operating within plant environmental, health and safety budget targets.
Timely incident investigation and reporting to all relevant parties such as Group EHS, Regulatory bodies and Plant Management team, highlighting necessary corrective actions.
Identify and key participant in EHS projects, Kaizen, Capex or otherwise.
Update and maintain the site EHS KPI process.
Ensure that all employees fully understand their individual and legal EHS obligations.
Ensure that adequate arrangements exist, or are put in place, to cover the absence of those personnel with key environmental, health and safety responsibilities.
Co-ordinate and carry out environmental, health and safety audits in compliance with the audit program.
Ensure any Management of Change items are reviewed from a risk perspective.
Develop and maintain the risk assessment programme across the site.
Train, coach and participate in the behavioural safety programme, monitor compliance and feedback data to the Plant Management team.
Develop the Life Program and report on its progress to the site Management team
Maintain and develop the site accreditation status with external bodies for environmental, health and safety activities
Facilitate and maintain the plants insurance inspections and translate actions to the relevant departments
Facilitate the Loss Prevention survey within the site and ensure actions are completed in a timely manner.
Monitor occupational health through substance exposure with periodic tests and control of materials brought to / used on site.
Ensure that all necessary environmental records are generated and maintained in the Environmental log.
Maintain the Plant environmental permit and ensure full compliance to its conditions and requirements.
Manage all waste leaving site and ensure consignment notes are held and available for inspection by regulatory bodies, target waste / energy reduction.
Ensure the control of VOC emissions are within the limits of the site permit.
Responsible for managing and maintaining an effective security resource on site, including review of security assessments and CCTV monitoring
Manage and maintain site Emergency Plan including training and management table top exercises
Conduct and manage routine internal and external training strategy for the site
Manage and maintain Occupational Health programme
**About you**:
Experience working in an operational role with direct HSE responsibilities in an Engineering or Production environment
Knowledge of ISO-14001 and OS-45000
Experience of liaising with emergency services and local authorities
Strong knowledge of environmental and health & safety basic regulatory and legal framework
Certified in risk management and health & safety management
Thorough knowledge of health and safety laws and guidelines
Extensive attention to detail to distinguish safety hazards
Ability to recognise when safety conditions need improvements
Knowledge and experience of implementing extraction systems
Knowledge of V06 emissions
Senior management experience
Ability to prioritise tasks
