As part of the QA Department, you are critical to the development of our games, and at Coatsink, we place enormous value on the detail and quality of our products, we therefore place a great deal of value on the work of the QA team.
Your role, and that of the wider team is to find inconsistencies and bugs in the game experience. You will document, reproduce and review these inconsistencies, and work with the development team to ensure these get fixed, and to work towards getting the quality of the game ready for release. However, your role goes further than this. At Coatsink, as your experience and skill develop, you will create Test Plans and take ownership of areas of the game, leading testing in those areas.
You are part of a pivotal team, being integrated into the game project teams and communicating at all levels and across all functions and teams in the business. Your work is very detail orientated and you have the patience and tenacity to systematically and thoroughly focus on all areas of the game assigned to you.
At mid-level in the department, you have responsibility for a specific game or area of a game for testing, as well as communicating and reporting to developers and production.

**Responsibilities & Tasks**
- Testing of titles as designated.
- Creating efficient bug reports and clear, concise reproduction steps for developers.
- Monitoring and maintaining the bug database.
- Creating and carrying out Test Plans.
- Communicating with the QA team and leads about known issues and progress on them.
- Maintaining documentation on Confluence of all required QA processes, as well as titles as and when required.
- Working directly with developers regarding quality issues and providing practical support in the resolution of the issues.
- Tracking stable builds through daily smoke tests.
- Creating reports for build sign-offs.
- Any other reasonable duty assigned to you that is line with your skills, knowledge and ability.

**Person Specification**

**Experience**
- It is likely that in order to undertake this role effectively, you will have at least 2-3 years of exposure within the QA function of the games or a similar industry at a junior level (possibly having moved into mid-level), depending on the type of activity and responsibility undertaken.
- Significant experience of using and testing on multiple platforms such as PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Google Stadia.
- Relevant Compliance testing experience.
- Multi-player games testing experience.
- Cross platform games testing experience.
- Solid game specific documentation experience.
- Some experience of developing test plans and documentation.
- The following experience would be advantageous
- Working with development software and hardware.
- Working in an agile environment.
- Developing for VR.
- Compliance testing experience on major platforms.

**Education**
- Games related degree level education or equivalent experience

**Skills**
- Effective communication skills which include a high standard of the written word and the ability to verbally
- relay information succinctly and precisely.
- A strong eye for detail to be able to spot issues and errors.
- Proficient computer literacy skills.
- An effective problem-solver, with the ability to work out what is causing an issue.

**Knowledge**
- Knowledge of platform SDKs and software used in the process of testing on various hardware.
- Knowledge of bug tracking software, such as JIRA.
- An understanding of the importance of timely information sharing.
- An understanding of the game development process and how issues occur.

**Aptitude**
- Keen, with the ability and willingness to learn and to keep on top of new technology
