Distribution Controller
We are recruiting for a Distribution Controller in our Logistics Department at RENOLIT Crmalington site.
The successful person would be repsonsible for the co-ordination and control of our products to our global customer base, ensuring delivery performance meets cost, quality and service parameters and arrange and schedule the transport requirements for all departments both inbound and outbound, as requested.
Your tasks at RENOLIT
Key Responsibities include:
- Communicate with customer services to ensure the correct and timely release of sales orders to both global markets. Prepare, process pick notes / labels and update appropriate daily loading plans.
- Ensure deliveries arrive at customers on time and in full, progress chase where necessary.
- Arrange and schedule transport to deliver shipments on a in line with customer requirements.
- Use of SAP/COAGO system to confirm picks, update stock records and produce despatch notes.
- Act as the main point of contact with freight providers under your control, monitoring rates and services ensuring the most competitive and reliable operators are used.
- Provide cover for team members within the distribution department as and when required.
- Investigate and report conclusions concerning any issues while goods in ‘transit’. Liaise with both CCT and Transport providers to establish the facts and where necessary rule on whether a claim is appropriate. Following claims through to conclusion.
- Provide monthly data detailing special deliveries, frequently visited destinations, areas for concern etc.
- Collate and /or extract data to produce performance measurement reports. Update spreadsheets on a daily basis for pallets / racks shipped by destination.
- Maintain computer and paper files of all processed transactions to ensure availability and traceability of information. Provide ad hoc analysis and summaries of the information as required. Continuously review processes suggesting improvements.
- Identify and undertake initial investigations in order to establish the facts required for dealing with queries from customers, transport partners and / or colleagues.
- Check and authorise freight invoices within scope of authority.
- Communicate with internal departments to arrange “non sales” transport requirements as requested including customer returns, engineering, sales & marketing and technical.
What we expect
Skills and Knowledge
- Attention to detail, the individual must co-ordinate and process information from a variety of internal and external sources to enable the company to fulfil customer requirements.
- The sometimes-hectic nature of the business requires the individual to have a special rapport with freight providers, often arranged at very short notice.
- A sound knowledge of the warehousing systems SAP and COAGO is preferred.
- The individual must be methodical and accurate and able to work autonomously.
- Excellent communication skills are required to interact at all levels within the company and with external suppliers / customers.
Qualifications and Experience
- Educated to GCSE standard. 5 minimum A - C, A-Levels preferable / RTITB qualifications.
- Computer Literate in Microsoft Word, Excel spreadsheets, warehouse systems.
- Several years’ experience within a warehouse, freight forwarding / export environment.
