**SCHOOL STAFF INSTRUCTOR (SSI) - COMBINED CADET FORCE (CCF)**

**THE ROLE**

The SSI is a key CCF staff member whose principal role is to organise and deliver military and adventure training to the CCF (Army). The SSI role is central to the smooth and efficient running of the Contingent and the development of the leadership potential of Cadets. There is an expectation that the SSI will take a lead role in the future direction of the CCF. Whilst employed by the school the SSI will be directly responsible to the Contingent Commander (CC) and the school’s senior leadership team.

**DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS**

The principal responsibilities of the roles are:
1. **Administration**
- Monitor and manage all communication from the MOD chain of command and coordinate any required response in consultation with the Contingent Commander CCF.
- Ensure that the CCF contingent is compliant with the governance requirements of the MOD and the School.
- Accurately update and maintain all CCF personnel records on WESTMINSTER and appropriate Cadet Information Systems (CIS).
- Maintain accurate training records on CIS.
- Ensure that accurate details of cadets are maintained on CIS.
- Attend meetings on-site and off-site that are necessary to the effective and legal running of the CCF unit.

2. **Instruction and Training**
- Plan and deliver military and adventurous instruction and training to CCF Staff and Cadets including mandatory safety tests.
- Assist with both military and adventurous training camps, shooting and Cadet Competitions.
- Assist in the management of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme for the CCF and for pupils outside the CCF.
- Co-ordinate, prepare and plan all camps and Field Days in consultation with the Contingent Commander.
- Manage all related administration including sending out and collection of consent forms.
- Ensure that all mandatory paperwork and authority required by both the School and MOD for any training exercise is completed.

**3. Equipment and Administration**
- Responsibility for the issue, care, maintenance and accountability of all MoD and CCF equipment and run the adventurous training stores.
- The control of the issue, receipt, maintenance, security and serviceability of arms, ammunition and explosives held in the Armoury security facilities. Function as the principal key controller to the Armoury.
- Carry out an annual Stock Check and Conditioning Board of all stores held on account through the necessary authority.
- Maintain stores accounting records of receipts and issues in accordance with MOD policy.

**Additional duties and responsibilities**
- Be prepared to attend training as necessary ensuring all legislative training is kept up to date;
- Undertake all duties with due regard of the School’s Health and Safety Policy and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and all other relevant legislation;
- To carry out any such task as shall be deemed necessary to the smooth running of the school.

This job description is not intended to be all embracing and the post holder shall be required to carry out any other duties as directed by their line manager, commensurate with training and experience.

The job holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young person’s for whom s/he is responsible, or with whom s/he comes into contact will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with the School’s Safeguarding Policy (including Child Protection Procedures) at all times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the role, the job holder identifies any instance that a child is suffering or likely to suffer significant harm either at school or at home, s/he must report any concerns to the School’s Child Protection Officer/Designated Safeguarding Lead so that a referral can be made accordingly to the relevant third party services.
