I am a 24-year-old male with severe learning disability. My family support me to manage all of my care. I need a personal assistant to assist me in all areas of my personal, domestic and social life, both at home and in the community. Your role is to enable me to lead an individual and independent life in my own home and support me to achieve an outcome-based learning

**Hours and rate of pay**:
£11.00-£12.50 per hour.
This rate is offered for both day and night as a flat rate.
Shifts are varied. Waking nights and days available now to provide 24 hr care to young person.
Shifts patterns as below:
8:30am-9pm
Day shifts vary according to activities but is usually 6-7 hours during the day
Waking night shifts

The post will include 5.6 weeks paid annual leave (pro-rata)
Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required.
Valid UK drivers licence desirable but not essential.

**Location**: Sawbridgeworth

**Training**: Training will be offered to complete the mandatory training required:

- Safeguarding Adults
- Introduction to first aid
- Health and Safety

**What you would be doing**:The work involves some or all of the following tasks. Some tasks will be daily, others weekly. As the client’s needs vary, it is important that you are flexible about the work and agree to undertake any other reasonable tasks.
- Support with Personal care
- Support with dressing, undressing and showering.
- I need support to stay healthy by following guidelines I have agreed to which cover diet hydration continence, my skin integrity, my legs/feet and exercise.
- I need support to help me sit at the table and eat my meals. It is important that I keep hydrated and to do this you need to offer me a variety of drinks throughout the day.

Domestic Needs
- General housework, including cleaning, dusting, hoovering.
- Preparation and cooking of meals and drinks and clearing up.
- Changing of bed linen.
- Laundry and ironing.
- Shopping and/or assistance with shopping.
- Assisting me to move around my home.
- PA role will also include taking responsibility for aspects of managing stocks and supplies in the home.

General Assistance with activities outside and Inside my home:

- To help me and my family with my planned activity, inside or outside my home.
- To Assist me into and out of my car when going out for activities
- To Assist with getting to and taking part in social activities e.g., church every Sunday.

Personal Assistant’s General Responsibilities
- Respect me and those who visit me and are in my community.
- Arrive at the agreed time, ready to work.
- Give as much notice as possible if you are going to be late or can’t come.
- Discuss any problems with me as soon as possible.
- Respect my home, possessions /equipment and use them only with my and my family’s consent.
- Support me to keep my home safe and free from risks that may harm me.

**The person I would like**: You must be reliable, able to work flexible hours, you must respect my privacy and understand my need for confidentiality. This post is a new way of working, you will work under the direction of the persons responsible for me and you should be able to respond to mine and my family’s requests.
