The post covers both elective and trauma foot and ankle surgery. All aspects of elective practise are covered including as a tertiary referral service.

Liverpool University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has been designated the Merseyside Trauma Centre, receiving large volumes of complex trauma.

Research activity is an integral part of this fellowship. The department has a proven track record with research, with noted nominations and awards in the British Orthopaedic Association, European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Royal Society of Medicine, PanCeltic Society, British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society in the last 5 years alone. The Foot and Ankle team have a strong track record in peer reviewed publications and both national and international presentations.

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The merger provides an opportunity to reconfigure services in a way that provides the best healthcare services to the city and improves the quality of care and health outcomes that patients experience.

The Trust runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

It serves a core population of around 630,000 people across Merseyside as well as providing a range of highly specialist services to a catchment area of more than two million people in the North West region and beyond.

The successful applicant will join a dynamic team of 52 consultants in order to provide a comprehensive Trauma & Orthopaedic service along side the delivery of Major Trauma for the Trust. They must be coming to the end of their Specialist Orthopaedic Registrar training. The applicant will not be part of the on-call rota but will participate in foot and ankle trauma. This post is mainly under the supervision of Mr A P Molloy, with clinical duties of the other Foot and Ankle consultants.
