Job Summary:
CSA is building a new state of the art energy storage lab in Cleveland, Ohio where we are looking for an experienced engineer with knowledge and experience in design, evaluation, and testing of Micro Grid Controllers (MGC) for battery energy storage systems.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Evaluates and performs certification and testing work according to the applicable standards being applied and appropriate to their own qualifications and experience. Formulates test plans, conducts testing as needed, and analyzes test data to determine compliance with applicable requirements. Drafts test reports and all certification documents.- Ensures that project work and testing is conducted safely, in accordance with CSA quality procedures, and is delivered on-time and on-budget.- Act as the trusted operations advisor as well as collaborative technical resource, in line with TM colleagues, for MGC.- Develops lab procedures applicable to MGC. Responsible to assemble and setup test apparatus to be fully operational. Once operational and routine testing begins, oversee the test program, and ensure all calibration and testing are performed according to appropriate test standards.- Provides technical direction and support to staff engaged in certification work. Resolves technical issues and provides an interpretation of technical requirements within the assigned area of responsibility. Works with TM and Operations Staff to develop technical requirements and programs for certification.- Assists the Legal and Product Safety & Compliance teams to resolve issues arising out of Product Incident Reports (PIR). Assists in the development of interim certification requirements (ORDs), and other documentation to support the certification process.- Assist TM with the assessment of the technical competence of certification staff in the CSA offices, Network Members and subcontracted independent testing facilities within the assigned product/standards area.- Assists in the development of training materials and may deliver and/or arrange for training of technical staff in the assigned product/standard area under the direction of, and in support of, Operations and Technical Training. Delivers training and technical seminars to customers and Network Members engaged in certification work. Documents the training appropriately in employee training records.- Participates, under the Product Group Manager’s and Technical Oversight Manager's direction in Canadian, US, binational, trinational, and international standards development work. Proactively communicates to certification management and staff the new and revised requirements resulting from the standards development work and any implications the changes might have on current work processes and lab equipment requirements.- As needed, may perform technical and system audits of CSA labs, Network Members, and subcontracted independent testing facilities. Reviews laboratory qualification assessment documents.- Provides support to the Client Service Centre staff by answering technical inquiries.- Acts as a Subject Matter Expert to support the development of innovative new programs to integrate new features or complex features in products. Assists and supports Technical Management, Commercial, Standards, and Operations where required expertise and innovative solutions are created to address complex program requirements, such as multi-disciplinary technologies or products not addressed by currently published requirements.- Participates, and leads when asked, in CSA Group’s Technical Networks, which comprises key certifiers, certification specialists, technical oversight managers and technical oversight specialists. The primary goal is for advancing the technical knowledge and technical depth of CSA’s certifiers globally, resulting in global technical consistency.- Provides answers promptly and fosters open technical discussions in CSA’s internal Technical Forums that support MGC standards and testing requirements
