Snook Trail Ranger

York, United Kingdom ST LEONARDS HOSPICE Full time

St Leonard’s is the charity partner for a high-profile sculpture trail in the city, the Snooks Trail. There will be 23 Snook sculptures scattered throughout the city, including one sponsored by St Leonard’s. We’re seeking Trail Rangers to be based with the St Leonard’s Snook in St Helen’s square in the city centre and to interact with people doing the trail. As a Trail Ranger you might be asked about the trail, the Hospice, or even for directions It’s a great opportunity to engage with our local community and visitors to the city, and to raise awareness of our work.

**When am I needed?**

We would love people to keep our Snook company for two or three hours at a time, and we can be flexible on the time and date, with a preference for weekends and school holidays. The trail runs for 8 weeks from 29 February 2024.

**What will I be doing?**
- Raising awareness of St Leonard’s Hospice and our services
- Engaging with people about the Hospice, York and the trail
- Checking the Snook for any damage.

**What skills and qualities will I need?**
- Be friendly and willing to engage in conversations with people doing the trail. There will be thousands of people doing the trail, and our Snook is in a busy place so you will need to be comfortable speaking to a range of people
- Be able to do this role outside (weather permitting) in a busy street in York.

**About the Hospice**

St Leonard’s Hospice provides care and support to local people living with life-limiting illnesses and to the people they care about. We couldn’t carry out the important work we do without a committed and talented team of Volunteers and Supporters - people of all ages, and from all walks of life who help us provide care and assistance throughout the organisation as well as promoting the work of the hospice in local communities and raising crucial funds.

The Snooks Character Trail is a fundraiser for the Hospice. Money raised at the auction will help us to support anyone living with a life-limiting illness, and those they care about, at our Hospice, in patients’ homes and across our community.
