**The role**:
The Legal Services team provides a wide range of advice and support on legal and compliance issues to all academic and professional departments of the University. The team's responsibilities include work in the areas of property and commercial law, employment law, intellectual property, insurance, risk management, data protection, freedom of information, equality and diversity, support/fitness to study, records management, staff and student mediation and dispute resolution, appeals, complaints and discipline.

**What will you be doing?**:
We have a new opportunity for a highly literate and organised individual to work alongside the University Lawyers and provide legal support, analysis and advice under supervision. The role will mainly involve dealing with student related procedures such as academic appeals, student complaints and support to study. The work may include carrying out legal research, drafting reports and decision letters and acting as clerk to the University’s decision-making panels and committees. There will be opportunities to work with the University Lawyers dealing with employment and commercial law.

You have an undergraduate law or relevant degree, or CILEX accreditation or equivalent or are working towards accreditation. You should have experience of working in a legal department or law firm in a compatible area of law. You should be able to work independently, and also have good organisational and time management skills, experience in drafting and legal research and good communication skills.
