**Salary**: £43,000 - 48,000 (depending on experience)
Contract: 6 months contract, may be extended
Full time: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Location: Barnet, Haringey and Enfield Catchment areas

This role is working in partnership with the Barnet Mental Health Community Services Team to provide treatments to individuals within the Barnet catchment area.
The post holder will work across a core community hub to provide assessment, rehabilitation, intervention, and plan supportive discharge. In addition, you will work alongside the Lead Occupational Therapist and Occupational Therapists from other community coreteams to create a streamlined Occupational Therapy offers across the Barnet boroughs.
You will work with service users who have complex and substantial needs, often working with persons with dual diagnosis and coexisting conditions including physical health needs.
Job Role:

- Work with teams to assess suitability of accommodation and housing need to give feedback to MDT and other agencies as appropriate.
- Plan, run and evaluate treatment sessions using graded activities to achieve treatment aims
- Maintain a flexible approach to treatment sessions, modifying activities, according to the fluctuating clinical presentation of the service user.
- Attend multi-disciplinary clinical meetings, to support and share information regarding professional practice with other disciplines and work in collaboration to provide a coordinated package of care and in compliance with the care programme approach as necessary
- Actively contribute to the risk assessment process:

- Consider all aspects of risk when considering treatments and advise the team accordingly complete and maintain risk assessment documentation as required. Assess the therapy environments in relation to risk when planning and running treatment sessions. Ensureappropriate staffing is available to run treatment sessions safely. Advise other team members on the management of risk. Obtain agreement from the team, OT lead
before engaging clients in any activity that may require therapeutic risk taking.
- Be aware of current legislation regarding safeguarding, and to have a thorough understanding of the Unit and Trust's policies in relation to them.
- Ensure that relevant records, reports, and treatment statistics are produced to a competent standard in line with professional guidelines, Trust policy, performance requirements and established service systems.
- Maintain adequate electronic clinical records and to write specific occupational therapy reports as necessary.
- Be involved in service wide initiatives and developments as delegated by the Lead OT.
- Liaise with external agencies and Trust services to support individuals in transition back to work, education, or other structured activity.
- Carry out home visits, work with people in their accommodation and carry out session in a variety of community settings
- Work with senior staff, core hub manager and Lead OT, to design and evaluate appropriate systems for referral, case load management and review.
- Supervise junior staff and students as required and assist in the induction of new team members as delegated by service leads.
- Encourage good staff communication and participation in staff meetings, teaching sessions and multi-disciplinary meetings and take turns in presenting.
**Requirements**:

- Minimum of BSc in Occupational Therapy Degree
- Registration with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Have evidence of continuing professional development
- Have knowledge and working experience of mental health conditions.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as an Occupational Therapist
- Be part of the RCN or an equivalent professional body for insurance and advice purposes.
- Effective verbal communication skills for clinical and MDT working
- Effective written communication skills to includes reports, assessments, supervision
- Effective time management skills
- Ability to laterally think and problem solve.
