**Chief of Staff (Maternity Cover)**:
In your role as Chief of Staff at Matalan, you will work directly for the CEO, alongside her Executive team and act as an extension of the CEO, taking ownership of tasks and driving forward projects on her behalf - joining the dots and filtering information through to the CEO. This is a senior leadership position that requires exceptional organisational, communication and written skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and influence things to happen.

**What You Do**
- Act as a sounding board and strategic advisor to the CEO, challenging ideas and offering alternatives thoughts.
- Providing summaries, recommendations, and strategic thinking to the CEO regarding decisions and information which flow through the Executive office on a day-to-day basis.
- Develop and prepare a broad range of high-impact CEO-level communications for a range of external audiences and manage social media for the CEO.
- Work closely with the CEO and Executive team to deliver clear and comprehensive CEO reporting and updates for various stakeholders internally, such as board papers.
- Always stay in the flow of information through attending and contributing at leadership and Executive meetings whilst helping with structure, documentation, and communication.
- Provide cross functional support to the full Executive team and the Strategy Director on strategic initiatives, facilitate special projects and ensure actions are followed up and executed on behalf of the CEO.
- Assisting the CEO to promote the business and ensure an excellent reputation.
- Promote teamwork, communication, and collaboration within the business, while influencing change to happen.
- Act as a role model of our Leadership behaviours.

**About You**:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence.
- Proactive and highly motivated to support the transformation journey and act as a sounding board to leaders at Matalan.
- Excellent at building relationships with the ability to engage with all levels of the business to seek out key information.
- An understanding of communication disciplines
- and channels
- Experience of leading projects and delivering Change
- Ideally a working knowledge of the Retail Industry
- Strong influencing skills and experience to be able to persuade and influence a wide range of stakeholders
- Ability to succinctly synthesise information and rapidly convey key points
