**About the role**

We're looking for an experienced buyer to come in to a newly created Senior Buying role for our Wine team.

Ocado has the largest wine range of any UK supermarket and we're looking for a passionate buyer to come and continue to deliver growth and performance for the category, innovation and to lead the team.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Manage the category P&L and deliver against KPIs
- Plan and deliver trade, promotions, and events plan
- Identify opportunities to drive customer penetration
- Identify opportunities to improve all-in margin, negotiate with suppliers to deliver savings
- Negotiate with suppliers to agree and deliver market-leading plans aligned to the customer plan and category strategy.
- Analyse and assess performance issues and opportunities using data and reporting tools, devise and implement solutions
- Identify, analyse and source first-to-market / Ocado exclusive product innovation using customer, market and supplier insights to guide decision making
- Develop category strategy with support from Trading Manager
- Support and lead the wine team with KPI's, supplier management, strategy implementation and personal development
- Manage and review the performance of a complex supplier base through communicating and developing relationships with suppliers to drive engagement and performance
- Work closely with supply chain and the supplier base to ensure best-in-class availability
- Adhering to all Ocado policies, storage, and handover protocols and successfully completing all of your training so that you have zero GSCOP breaches. Ensuring all agreements are recorded in writing, reporting GSCOP complaints to Legal within 48 hours of receipt
- Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence

**Key Skills**
- Significant retail buying experience and some management experience required
- Branded buying experience
- Proficient in Excel, with prior experience working with customer, transactional or financial data
- Leadership capability/people management
- Influencing and stakeholder management
- Strong negotiation skills
- Able to analyse complex sets of data
- Wine experience preferred (WSET Level 3 preferred
