Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Nephrology and General (Internal) Medicine at Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust, Truro, Cornwall.

We offer a comprehensive range of Nephrology services throughout the county of Cornwall, in the Southwest of England. These services include - Acute and Chronic haemodialysis, CAPD, home haemodialysis, OPD nephrology and pre and post kidney transplant follow up (but excluding acute kidney transplantation). The department has developed Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) services, and consultants have worked on AKI projects locally, regionally, and nationally

The post holder will be working in a variety of clinical and teaching settings.
- Providing acute inpatient nephrology and general medical care
- Providing outpatient general nephrology, transplant and dialysis
- Providing nephrology and general medical on call out of hours
- Teaching nephrology and general medical junior doctors
- Teaching undergraduate medical students
- Working with the nephrology specialist nurses and other MDT members
- Opportunities for clinical research - with active engagement in multi centre research

This is a full-time position primarily based at The Royal Cornwall Hospital (Truro site) and is focused on contributing to the delivery of the Nephrology service across Cornwall.

Cornwall is a beautiful county which offers an outstanding quality of life and providing many opportunities for outdoor activities, with its sailing waters, surfing beaches and rugged coastal pathways for walking, and cycling. There is a thriving arts and theatre scene as well as an interesting variety of eating places, including celebrity-owned restaurants. The major route both in and out of the county is the A30 which connects with the M5 motorway at Exeter. There is an excellent rail service with daily passenger and sleeper services and a thriving airport at Newquay with daily connections to many cities throughout the UK and abroad.
