Clinical Responsibilities To attend the wards and outpatients as required. To attend theatre with the consultants. To participate in the intermediate duty rota with the higher surgical trainees and specialty doctors and other core trainee. The rota is 1 in 8 non-resident on-call with prospective cover.
To supervise more junior members of the surgical team. In addition, practitioners will be prepared to perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances without additional remuneration but may be granted time off in lieu at the discretion of the Trust. Commitments arising in such circumstances are, however, exceptional and practitioners should not be required to undertake work of this kind for prolonged periods or on a regular basis. Governance, Education and Teaching To contribute to the teaching programme on site.
To attend regular teaching seminars held by the Consultants and other medical staff. To participate fully in Clinical Audit. To attend departmental meetings. In line with General Medical Council (GMC) and Good Medical Practice it is the responsibility of the post holder to ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard, and in accordance with current quality initiatives within the area of work.
