Unsted Park School is a specialist residential and day school/6th form college for children and young people aged 7 to 19 primarily with high functioning Autistic Spectrum Disorders. We are committed to providing the highest level of education and care in a safe, positive environment that enables each individual to achieve his or her maximum potential.

The focus of the whole school approach is in three core areas: education, independence and inclusion. Based on these core areas we provide individual, child-centred programmes which recognise individual abilities and strengths and help students to reach their full potential. The school is supported by a therapy team consisting of Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Art Therapy staff and assistants who work closely with the educational and residential staff to meet students’ social and emotional needs.

We are seeking to appoint an individual with the ability to work on their own initiative, strong interpersonal skills and the passion to help us on our journey to becoming a trauma-informed and rights-respecting school. Our school is undergoing a period of change with emotional wellbeing of our students at its core. This role provides the post holder the freedom to develop their own approaches to intervention, to work without the limitations of a fixed number of sessions, to gain experience in a wide range of clinical issues and to work with the staff body to create change at a systemic level. The post-holder will undergo certified training in a range of areas including child protection, physical intervention and behavioural management etc.

You will need experience of working with young people with neuro-developmental disorders and be familiar with the impact of, and treatment for, developmental trauma. Experience with adapted Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), regulation and attachment disorders would beneficial due to complexity of some of the young people’s needs. You will support the effective delivery of learning and care plans (EHCP’s) for students through the management, organisation and supervision of therapy assistants and therefore additional experience in supervisory and/ or managerial roles is desirable. You will need to also work closely with educational and residential staff, for example by offering training and consultation in order to best meet students’ needs. S/he will need to be prepared to also hold a small caseload of students for direct intervention work (group or individual) S/he will have the opportunity to work closely with the school’s senior leadership team and other members of the therapy team in order to support the students at all levels from assessment to intervention and transitioning to further education.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated person with SEND experience to fill this exciting and challenging post and who is prepared to work flexibly in a vibrant, caring and supportive environment. For further information about this role please contact Joan Tobin on 01483 892061

As part of Aspris Children’s Services, we are immensely proud of the career pathway and training we can offer you. We ask that you can demonstrate the values needed for a role, transferable skills and life experience and in return we will give you all the training and support you need to progress.

**Resilience** - We support some of the most vulnerable children in society who have varying degrees of emotional behavioural difficulties, autism, ADHD and associated difficulties so there will be times where your resilience is challenged.

**Communication** - Communicating with our young people is vital to understand their needs. Positive working relationships, good teamwork and communication plays a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff.

**Committed **- will join a supportive and experienced team of dedicated support staff, committed to delivering the very best care.

**Caring** - Our young people require the best care we can offer. If you are a naturally caring and compassionate person, this is the role for you.

**_ If you want to progress your career, Aspris will help you get there._**
