**Job summary**:
RAF Coningsby is an operational flying station within Lincolnshire which protects the UK through Quick Reaction Alert and is an integral part of the UK air defence.

The Test and Measuring Equipment Cell (TMEC) provides RAF Coningsby and deployed units with fit for purpose TME, ensuring that customers have the correct level of equipment and support. With over 1600 disparate items to control it is a challenging but interesting place to work, within a small friendly team of 11.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

**Job description**:
The Test and Measuring Equipment (TME) Avionics (Av) 2 is part of a team that ensures that Typhoon aircraft global operations are resourced with fit for purpose test and measuring equipment and is responsible for planning and controlling the maintenance and calibration of Av TME, including the recording of all transactions on a bespoke database. You, and the team, will be required to investigate shortfalls/paucity of TME and actively investigate the issue and provide solutions taking into account your customer’s needs and wider priorities.

This is a fulfilling but demanding post in a busy environment and you must be able to perform well under pressure. You will be supporting the Typhoon Force and RAF Coningsby lodger units, by controlling the Test Equipment across the Military Air Environment to ensure that it is fit for purpose, meets mandated levels of serviceability and is available for use in UK and overseas. You must be motivated, assertive, good team worker and determined to provide continuity and commitment to the customer. You will need excellent communication skills and the ability to make informed decisions in the coordination of repair, calibration and allocation of Typhoon and General-Purpose Test Equipment in the interest of operational requirements. You will need to demonstrate an ability to solve problems and make timely decisions based on a sound understanding of the customer’s role and operational objective, as well as an ability to resource equipment using knowledge of the Service Logistic Network. You will be required to write/draft reports relating to technical equipment. You should possess an ability to; act independently (within a framework of technical and procedural instructions), understand engineering documentation and use electronic publications and manuals.

**Person specification**:
A background in a technical, test equipment or Typhoon equipment environment would be advantageous, as would experience of controlling TME. You should have experience of working in a quality system (preferably aircraft related) and an understanding of continuous improvement (CI). You will be required to use bespoke database systems and windows-based programmes so you must have excellent IT skills, especially experience of databases and Microsoft Applications Excel, Word and Outlook. There is an element of manual handling in the packing and unpacking of TME.

Good communication skills (verbal and written)

Strong attention to detail

Experience of coordinating and completing activities/tasks to agreed timescales that deliver quantifiable results

Experience of working with Microsoft Outlook, Word and especially inputting and manipulating information in spreadsheets.

**Desirable**

Experience of working in a Quality Assurance organisation.

Experience of working with bespoke databases.

Experience of using the Service supply system including MJDI.
