**Senior Virtualisation Engineer - OHE Migration**

We are currently recruiting for a **Senior Virtualisation Engineer who will server as a technical SME for the internal Private cloud migration providing SME level support for advanced troubleshooting and support of the migration toolset.**

This is for our client who are a multinational financial services company. This role is on an initial contract of 6 months and Inside IR35.

**Role Purpose**

The Senior Virtualisation Engineer will server as a technical SME for the internal Private cloud migration providing SME level support for advanced troubleshooting and support of the migration toolset

**Accountabilities**:

- Collaborate with Global teams on approach for the migration between internal clouds.
- Execute given assignments in a self-directed manner, anticipate issues and update procedures as required.
- Provides support in troubleshooting incidents surrounding migrations to ensure quick recovery of critical services.
- Provide support of the VMware HCX migration toolset.
- Ensures support and adherence of standards, policies, and procedures.
- Participate in the migration of Virtual machines between Private clouds.
- Can provide reporting of migrations and build reports for migration schedules.
- Identifies risks and proposes remediation plans for them.

**Key responsibilities**
- Remains abreast of latest technology within the VMware arena with specific knowledge of operating systems and migration toolsets.
- The role holder will work to support the delivery and to operationalise the strategy across the function.
- Actively collaborates across Technology both within the UK and Globally, coordinating initiatives that require participation of more than one team, designing solutions that comply with Santander UK standards.

**Skills and Knowledge Required**
- Experience in technology delivery
- Extensive understanding of technology development lifecycle and of agile methodologies.
- Ability to explain to senior management complex technical concepts.
- Cloud knowledge (AWS and/or Azure)
- CCIE or above in Routing & Switching
- In-depth understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols (e.g. BGP, OSPF)
- Solid understanding of Network operating systems incl, IOS, EOS, CatOS, NX OS, VXLAN.
- Certified administrator of F5 Big IP, Big IQ, LTM, GTM
- Extensive and proven knowledge of DNS/DHCP on QIP AMM, AMS platforms
- Sound understanding of Network troubleshooting methods and extensive experience in evaluating Wireshark traces and TCP dumps.
- Proved background working on security network technologies including firewall, proxy, IPS, WAF, VPN
- Excellent documentation and organisational skills

**Desirable**
- VMware technologies, including vSphere/ESX, VMware View, vCenter, Site Recovery Manager, running in enterprise environments
- Technical hands-on experience using Cisco ACI multi-site, multi-pod 4.2 and above
- DEV-Ops engineering background
- Automation skills using Python, Ansible, Rundeck, Postman, Terraform
- Dynatrace diagnostics
