Wolverhampton, United Kingdom University of Wolverhampton Full time

We are seeking to appoint an Associate Dean for Research and Knowledge Exchange in the Faculty of Arts, Business and Social Sciences.

We are seeking to appoint an Associate Dean for Research and Knowledge Exchange in the Faculty of Arts, Business and Social Sciences. This is one of three Associate Deans roles in the faculty that leads a strategic and cross faculty portfolio area to drive our impact, success and growth.

The Associate Director for Research and Knowledge exchange will work closely with senior academic leaders within the faculty and wider university to advance and develop the faculty’s Research and Knowledge Exchange Strategy as well as lead the research and knowledge exchange community. In addition to sound research and knowledge exchange experience, you will be forward thinking, creative and ambitious, looking externally for sector trends and best practice which will enhance our reputation regionally and internationally. This role comes at a crucial time, as we build on the success of KEF and REF 2021 so you will need to be an effective communicator and influencer, able to forge close working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders working in an inclusive, diverse and multidisciplinary faculty.

The University of Wolverhampton holds a distinctive place within the higher education sector, and is one of the most successful modern universities, delivering excellence in teaching and research, widening access, and in business engagement. Having begun life nearly 190 years ago to enhance education and skill base of the workforce in what is today a major industrial conurbation, we have continued to fulfil and develop the role to meet the needs of the region we serve. Today as the ‘University of Opportunity’, the University of Wolverhampton is an integral part of economic growth and social change within the West Midlands and beyond.

The Faculty of Arts, Business and Social Sciences is an inclusive, creative and collaborative academic community that delivers outstanding teaching and learning. We foster and encourage engaged scholarship informed by our high quality research and active engagement with alumni, professional and community partners. Our mission as a faculty is to produce outstanding thinkers, teachers, scholars and leaders who take their commitment to creativity, innovation and collaboration onto the world stage.

We attract a growing community of international students and scholars and we support them to achieve their academic and career goals. We provide opportunities for entrepreneurship and innovation by engagement with regional stakeholders, policy makers and industry leaders. We actively encourage cross-faculty collaboration in teaching, learning and research to address global challenges.

The faculty is comprised of four distinct academic schools:
1. The new School of Creative Industries

2. The University of Wolverhampton Business School

3. Wolverhampton Law School

4. School of Social Science and Humanities

We also have a range of research centres with a strong track record of engagement with business and knowledge exchange including innovative developments in degree apprenticeships and professional education.
