Scrum Master - Retirements Platform Team, Edinburgh

Annual basic salary: £57,078 - £63,420 + exceptional rewards package

Within Retirement Platform Team our approach to hybrid working is still emergent but you should expect to be in office circa 2 days per week with home-working available for the remaining days.

Our team

The Retirement Platform is responsible for shaping and delivering the retirement strategy and product vision to help our corporate and individual customers make the most of their financial future. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a significant and diverse change delivery landscape. You will work across teams and develop effective ways of working and embed this within the teams.

About the role:
As a Scrum Master you’ll operate at Team level as a change agent with a passion for working with people and teams to help them reach their best and deliver their best for customers and the bank. There will be opportunity for working flexibly with more than one team to help build ways of working.

You’ll encourage your team’s understanding of Agile frameworks, principles and practices that enable transformation, and support them to establish their ways of working, to self-manage and continuously improve in delivering change and value safely. In summary a scrum master is there to help the team deliver more value, more quickly at a sustainable pace.

You will be supported by other Scrum Masters within the Retirement area and an Business Agility Lead.

If you decide to join us on this journey, you'll find yourself:

- Supporting Teams to understand and utilise Agile e.g. visualising work via Kanban boards, iterative development of work, shorter planning cycles and supporting clear linkage of work through breaking down work into smaller sized chunks of value.
- Supporting Agile events (stand-ups, retrospectives etc) to understand the value and purpose of them and be able to motivate and coach the team to become independent at these events
- Support the Product Owner and Engineering Lead to prioritise the backlog of work regularly
- Supports the specialists to identify best practices in refinement, prioritisation, stakeholder engagement and introducing tools and techniques.
- Coach and empower the team to self-manage, utilise feedback for continuous learning and improvement in efficient and incremental value delivery.
- Promote psychological safety and wellbeing creating a safe, trusting, and open environment for the team through items like team charters etc
- Coach and support the team to identify blockers / barriers to effective delivery and remove these.
- Learning/curious mindset, energy, and enthusiasm for creative disruption and to continuously strive to improve the organisation, team, and your knowledge and skills.
- An awareness of metrics and using them to improve and forecast

Key Skills Required

Essential:

- Practical experience of delivering work in projects and/or technical delivery
- Highly organised and evidence of managing workload
- Experience of large complex organisations and familiarity with business processes
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrable experience of working with teams and boosting morale to maintain delivery
- Experience of prioritising work

Desirable:

- Scrum Master Certification - PSM1 or equivalent is desirable however support will be available to achieve this.
- Some experience of the Jira suite, it isn’t essential but some knowledge will be helpful
