Contract Scotland has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Buyer to join our client, an award winning housebuilder based in Stepps. This is a full time, permanent position and offers a competitive salary, car / car allowance and bonus scheme as wellas an excellent benefits package.

This role offers hybrid working.

You will be working as part of a successful Commercial Team and will be reporting to the Senior Buyer, where you will manage an efficient materials purchasing process on up to two sites. This is a challenging but rewarding role where your duties will include:

- Preparing all procurement duties and exercises
- Keeping up to date with new materials to the market which would assist the business
- Scheduling and placing material and plant orders with Group National Suppliers where appropriate or general suppliers, optimising cost and quality.
- Attending internal pre-start meetings and Team Meetings as required
- Checking Architects/Engineers drawings for discrepancies and compliance with the required material specification
- Resolving any queries with the relevant consultants/Technical department.
- Ensuring correct specifications are being used
- Producing material cost schedules and budgets with cost codes for new sites
- Reviewing material cost codes to ensure budgets are not exceeded
- Producing schedules for material enquiries, sending to suppliers for costing and assessing quotations and supplier’s schedules to ensure they are correct, prior to placing the respective orders
- Projecting and reporting material cost increases as they arise
- Providing site material accruals on a monthly basis
- Compiling quarterly material valuations for presentation to the Surveyor to be incorporated in the respective valuation meetings
- Resolving invoice queries with the Accounts department
- Carrying out material on site checks and producing reports as required
- Attending site weekly to ensure there are no problems with supplies/materials
- Raising office and Sales and Marketing orders

You will ideally have experience of Buying within the house building sector however experience from any industry sector will be considered as training can be provided. Youmust be a proactive team player with excellent communication and negotiation skillsand the ability to work in a fast paced and demanding environment.
