Plymouth, United Kingdom University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust Full time

Your base clinical work will be at Derriford ED. The Department sees a full range of ED work, except for ophthalmic emergencies, which are mostly seen in the Royal Eye Infirmary. The Department has close links with the Medical, Surgical and Children's admission units as well as the Intensive Care Unit.

There are a minimum of two middle grade doctors on the shop-floor throughout the 24 hour period.

We are offering an exciting opportunity to gain ACCS-aligned competencies, working at a CT1/2 level, however, this may be reviewed depending on previous Emergency Medicine experience. This post is 3 years fixed term, with the potential for extension. You will rotate onto anaesthetics and Intensive Care for 6 months each to gain airway competencies and EM ST2-aligned competencies to enable advancement to working as an ST3-equivalent doctor. This post is designed to enable successful applicants to work towards CESR in EM. Advantages over a traditional training post, include all three years in Derriford Hospital, with no requirement to move around the region. You will be assigned a clinical supervisor, and a CESR lead consultant.

You will be expected to undertake full clinical duties including the immediate care of critically ill patients attending the ED, as well as patients presenting with both major and minor illness and injuries. The care will include initial resuscitation where appropriate, diagnosis, management and the treatment, referral and discharge.
