**Domestic Abuse Casworker**

Domestic Abuse Volunteer Support Services (DAVSS) are looking for a full-time Domestic Abuse Caseworker to join our team.

We are looking for someone pro-active and organised with excellent communication skills and experience of working with vulnerable adults.

**Main duties**
- Carry out confidential case supervision of cases at all levels of risk, supporting volunteers in their case work to ensure compliance with DAVSS policies and procedures and national guideline.
- Inbound and outbound calls to the client on the helpline, providing information, advice and guidance with practical and emotional support, ensuring compliance with DAVSS processes and procedures and national guidelines.
- Carry out comprehensive risk assessments and ensure risk management procedures are followed at all times, prioritising those at most risk.
- Complete robust initial and safety plans; reviewing as per DAVSS policy.
- Assist with the preparation of referrals to MARAC and Children Social Services and other agencies as appropriate
- Signpost clients to external agencies according to risk and need.
- Liaise with statutory and other voluntary organisations to ensure information is updated.
- Manage a small caseload of standard and medium risk clients.
- Ensure closure paperwork and user outcome feedback forms are completed and any follow up work is undertaken.
- Keep up to date with new legislation and processes pertaining to Case Management best practice
- Provide assistance with Support to Court Work as required (training will be provided).
- Ensure that office electronic and paper filing are maintained and record management systems and ensure records are updated in a timely manner.
- Any other administrative duties as directed by the Service Manager from time to time.
- Attend regular supervision with the Service Manager.
- Attend Clinical Supervision as directed.
- Provide assistance to Volunteer Domestic Abuse Advisors where possible.

**Person Specification**

**Knowledge**

**Essential**
- An excellent understanding of domestic abuse issues, risk assessment, safety planning and related systems; the impact of domestic abuse on victims and their families, and the legal and practical remedies available to these clients
- Experience in assisting or working on the frontline with domestic abuse clients or other vulnerable people
- Understanding of the various agencies working to address domestic abuse and violence
- An excellent understanding of helpline systems
- Understanding of the importance and role of administrative work required as part of supporting clients

**Desirable**
- Knowledge of MARAC and County Court processes
- Understanding of safeguarding children and families
- An understanding of legislative frameworks and national guidelines

**Qualification, Skills, and experience**

**Essential**
- Domestic abuse related qualification (IDVA) or a minimum of 1 year equivalent experience in a domestic abuse setting or related field.
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong team working skills
- Excellent written skills
- Organised
- Good time management skills
- Good standard of computer literacy/IT skills - Microsoft Office
- Willing to be trained on DAVSS domestic abuse data base system

**Desirable**
- Previous experience of working with volunteers or organising projects or similar would be an advantage
- A current driving licence and a car for use across the West Kent area
