An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone to have a significant positive impact on the lives of our students as the Vice Principal with strategic responsibility for the quality of education.

St Paul’s, is a mixed, non-selective, Roman Catholic secondary school in the heart of the South East London, has 1200 students on roll aged 11-16 and is a diverse community centred on the charism of St Paul as a missionary, seeker of truth and a champion of justice.

In 2017 Ofsted reported that we are a Good school where an _“inclusive approach and attention to pupils’ welfare run through all aspects of the school. With support from the senior leadership team, you have ensured that the school continues to be a positive learning environment where pupils are well cared for”._ In the Section 48 Inspection (March 2018), the headline was St Paul’s is an_ "outstanding school"_.

The Academy has a unique admissions arrangement, in that it supports Catholic families but also admits 80 students from the community each year regardless of religious or denominational background. We are incredibly proud of our external examination results and the inclusion work that happens at the Academy which enables young people to thrive.

**This is an exciting and innovative time for the Academy and we are looking to appoint a colleague who can meet the following criteria**:

- A practising Catholic who can develop the Catholic ethos of the school cultivating gospel values and Catholic social teaching, particularly around social justice, equality and care for the planet.
- Understanding of how to use the power of a school curriculum to transform the lives and opportunities of young people and lead them on to ambitious and successful futures in life, work and training.
- Is highly skilled in the art of teaching and learning and can model, explain and support staff and students in high impact and effective learning strategies.
- Is able to hold colleagues to account for attainment and standards and understands the importance of appraisal as a tool for school improvement and staff development and growth.
- Is a confident communicator, one who leads by example and someone able to foster effective relationships with staff, students and families.
- Demonstrates the capacity to be a highly resilient, emotionally intelligent and self reflective practitioner who is able to contribute to a team and lead people through change in an effective and intelligent way.
- Understands how to use data (of all types) to effectively evaluate, impact and make effective strategic plans to address gaps and development needs.
- Has a proven track record of improving outcomes, particularly for groups that are not making progress.
- Demonstrates a deep understanding of how to create a cohesive and inclusive school community centred on gospel values, spirituality and commitment to the dignity of every person.
- Will work closely with the Principal and Vice Principal to knit together the strengths of pastoral and academic strands of Academy life to support outstanding progress, development and opportunities for enrichment for young people.
