Marpaul Support Services, is looking for an experienced Gardening Team Leader to oversee and manage a small team of gardeners mainly at The Gardens, Yalding. There will be the opportunity to grow the team to work on client contracts to maintain grounds, both residential and commercial.

The role will be 40 hours per week, worked 5 days out of 7 (Monday to Sundays). Weekends will be rostered on average, across a two to three week cycle, although as the team grows this could be a four to five week cycle.

Successful applicants will have experience and be able to demonstrate the ability to successfully lead, support and motive a team and have a minimum of 3 years’ horticulture knowledge and experience.

**Main will duties include**:

- Liaising with the Estates and Facilities Manager / Management Team to ensure that you are fully aware of the focus for key developments of the gardens.
- Monitoring the day-to-day maintenance and the development of the grounds to an exceptional standard, ensuring that the work programme/project list is carried out through the year, to time and budget, with regular review at team meetings.
- Manage the team of gardeners including leave requests, absence management and holding regular review meetings alongside the Estates and Facilities Manager / Management Team.
- Report the requirement for purchase of supplies to the Estates and Facilities Manager / Management Team.
- Ensure security of the grounds through regular spot checks and checking of CCTV and operation of automated gates and organising regular maintenance checks.

**Health & Safety**
- To ensure maintenance issues are identified and plans are put into place to address them.
- To ensure maintenance lists are being addressed in a timely fashion and that essential operational equipment is repaired/replaced in order to not impact day to day work of the team.
- To review and monitor compliance of PPE, first aid, risk assessments, COSHH data sheets, checklists.
- To act responsibly and ensure that you do not work in a way that is likely to result in injury to yourself or to fellow workers.

Experience of turf management, a BTEC First Certificate / NVQ Level 2 in Horticulture, PA1 & PA6 spraying and CS30 & 31 chainsaw certificates or equivalent would be desirable but not essential.

A full UK driving licence and own transport is essential.
