Due to continued growth, we are recruiting an experienced finance assistant to support the regional finance director & team of finance managers. The role would suit an AAT or PQ accountant, who is organised with excellent attention to detail and ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

The Finance Assistant reports to the Regional Finance Director.

**Prime Object of Role**

To provide accounting support to the Regional Finance Director and team of finance managers.

The role is primarily based out of our Preston office, but there is scope to spend some time working from home. The role could be full-time or part-time, and the workload allocated accordingly.

**Financial Administration Duties**
- Processing supplier invoices, including coding and entering onto SAGE
- Confirm authorisation of supplier invoices with project finance manager / general manager
- Preparation of supplier payment run, including liaison with authorised signatories for approval and entering payments onto online banking platforms
- Provision of accurate accounting transaction processing to trial balance, including preparation of accruals & prepayments and processing & posting journals onto SAGE
- Efficient & timely processing of all sales invoices, including coding and entering onto SAGE and efficient credit control to ensure timely receipt
- Maintenance of accounting records
- Processing & submission of periodic VAT and CIS returns
- Post cash book entries for bank accounts and produce bank reconciliations
- Provide accounting support to finance managers, including analysis of information and preparation of audit information
- Produce monthly management accounts for 1-2 project companies
- Preparation of ad-hoc accounting & financial information
- Provide administrative support, including opening and distributing post, and answering office telephone

**Core Competencies**

**The Post Holder will need to be or have the following to fulfill this role**
- An experienced Accounts Assistant, at least AAT qualified or part-qualified (finalist), with the range of skills to provide both core accounting and finance support to the finance team
- A good working knowledge of accounts system, preferably SAGE
- Experience in running purchase and sales ledgers, and preparing accounts to trial balance level
- Good interpersonal skills, articulate and capable of interacting with professional, trade and the members of the public, coupled with the ability to assertively deal with conflict situations
- IT literate and able to use word processing, spreadsheet and other business software, to a practical level - but in particular excellent Excel skills
- Self motivated self starter, hardworking and flexible - able to work under own initiative and in a team environment, from home office as well as company offices
- Ability to plan and organise own workload to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner
- Attention to detail and a pride in own work to ensure all work is completed accurately
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks and develop good daily, weekly and monthly routines
- Positive and creative outlook essential.
