**Activities of the team/department that this role will operate in;**

**Work within a team carrying out all Highways activities**

**Purpose of the role and your responsibilities;**

**To carry out general maintenance works and operations, working with a Chargehand, undertaking a wide range of routine and cyclical works. To respond to emergencies and call outs during or out of hours on rotas as required and assist with winter maintenance activities as a second man or driver’s mate. Includes apprentices who have fully completed training.**

- **At all times to adhere to company procedures with regard to Health & Safety and where applicable to ensure all team members do like wise**:

- **At all times to behave in a way that supports the company’s stated Vision and Values and where applicable to ensure all team members do like wise. Wear and use all appropriate safety equipment, maintain it, and report any defects to your Supervisor.**:

- **Avoid unnecessary risk and all forms of horse play and ensure your own personal hygiene at all times.**:

- **Report any accident, injury, near miss or environmental incident to your line manager immediately.**:

- **Follow the risk assessments and safe systems of work for each task, to follow safety instructions and site rules.**:

- **To take care of your own health and safety and that of others affected by your work.**:

- **Ensure you wear the mandatory PPE as set out in employee handbook and any PPE identified in specific risk assessments**

**Experience required;**
- **Banksman**:

- **CSCS card if client requirement**:

- **Minimum level of every day behaviour as set out in the company behaviours matrix.**:

- **Relevant TM 12D.

**Knowledge;**
- **Able to carry out basic safety, quality and environmental audits and risk assessment**:

- **Able to understand and carry out work as set out in a specification.**:

- **Able to take responsibility for traffic management.**:

- **Generally hold 18 months+ experience**:

- **NVQ2**:

- **Use a range of power tools and equipment**:

- **Use of PDA as required**:

- **Able to give clear basic instructions**
