Recroot are looking for a HR Assistant to join our client based with Hackney Council.

This role will be starting at the beginning of January (for at least 6 months) working full time

Purpose of the post:

- Work collaboratively within the HR team, providing admin support to the team and best practice HR advice and support to the Trust and schools as directed.

Main duties and responsibilities:
Deliver outstanding service
- To identify and resolve routine administrative problems and contribute to improvement in ways of working within the team.
- With support, understand HR policies and procedures accurately, in order to deliver outstanding service, keeping abreast of changes in employment law and the HR environment, and contribute constructively to the review and development of HR policies and procedure

Increase service quality and performance
- To work with the Senior HR Advisor on HLT recruitment campaigns, including administering offers of employment, pre-employment checks and contracts of employment. Process new starters onto the relevant E-Systems
- Place School Adverts on the website, within the agreed timeframe.
- Create and maintain a calendar of the HR Team, mainly during school holidays, so a record of the team’s availability can be collated.
- To organise HR meetings, room bookings, agendas and to take minutes (where applicable).
- To assist preparing and maintaining new HR personal files including sponsored/migrant workers - both physical and electronic.
- To process HR personal files in the appropriate leaver’s process.

**Identify opportunities for personal and professional development**
- With guidance provide accurate and effective advice, assistance and practical interventions, as appropriate, on low level people management matters including recruitment, employee relations, performance and attendance, in a timely and professional manner
- Attend appropriate training that will enhance your skills and understanding as a HR Assistant.
- Work towards a professional qualification related to HR

**Identify opportunities for innovation/new business development**
- To act as an HLT Brand ambassador
- Identify new market needs and/or feed-in to the development of new products.

**Make best use of resources**
- To identify and resolve routine administrative problems and contribute to improvement in ways of working within the team.
- As directed use HR IT systems (e.g. iTrent, DBS database, Resource Link, ZOYA etc) to update and enter accurate data.
- Once approved to order stationery for the HR Team, and ad hoc ordering (e.g. booking external workshops for HR team members)
- Processing incoming mail

**Develop strong relationships across teams and with partners**
- To act as an initial point of contact for customers, dealing tactfully and politely with enquiries, researching and following up until resolution is achieved or escalating as appropriate.
- Develop effective and supportive working relationships with internal and external customers
- In the HR Support Officer’s absence, be responsible for overseeing the administration of Cycle scheme, Traded Services and long service awards.

**Reflect best practice and ensure compliance**
- Provide assistance with the administration of employee correspondence (e.g. contracts, variation letters, Maternity/ Paternity/ Adoption leave, leaver’s notifications hearing packs) for both schools and HLT staff, notifying payroll as appropriate
- Assist in the audit of Single Central Records (SCRS) within local schools and HLT establishments.
- To maintain confidentiality at all times.
- To undertake additional or other duties as may be appropriate to achieve the objectives of the post and as directed and deemed appropriate by the Line Manager.
- In the absence of the Education Workforce Information Adviser deal with DBS queries - including verifying documents, providing advice and support.
