A highly skilled accounting professional is sought for an internationally recognised University set outside the city centre. The Accounts Officer will provide a post-award management service to academics, ensuring their projects, benefiting from research & innovation grants and contracts, are effectively managed.

The postholder will ensure that research & innovation income is maximised through claims and timely invoicing.

Key responsibilities to include:

- Lead on all stakeholder interface work for individual projects in the assigned portfolio of projects in accordance with the Research & Innovation Finance MoU.
- Ensure that claims made to research & innovation funders are timely and accurate
- Support the R&I Finance - Billing and Credit Control Officer in the preparation and submission of invoices for contracts with external organisations.
- Create and maintain timely and accurate project records on the university’s finance system, based on funding body terms and conditions, to ensure an efficient and effective system of financial management and control.
- Oversee project approval of expenditure to ensure costs (including staff appointments) are within project budgets and the terms and conditions of funding bodies.
- Provide timely financial reports and monitoring to award holders and Divisions to ensure projects are managed within the available resources and the university funding terms are met.
- Provide guidance, advice and support through regular liaison with divisional Directors of Operations, Principal Investigators and divisional administrators to facilitate robust financial management and maximise cost recovery.

Ideally you will be educated to GCSE standard and fully AAT qualified, with a good working knowledge of financial systems (Unit4 Business World) and MS Applications. Prior experience of funding within a higher education institute is desirable.

You will be able to demonstrate highly developed analysis and reporting skills and can manage multiple projects simultaneously. Working flexibly, under pressure and meeting demanding and often competing deadlines will be essential for this role. You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a range of stakeholders quickly.

This is an onsite, full-time position. Hours of work 9.00am - 5.30pm.
