**MAIN DESCRIPTION OF POSITION**:
As part of the SEWS-E Engineering Team, the Electrical Apprentice engineer will acquire skills, knowledge & expertise for strengthening various departments in SEWS-E.

You will receive proper on and off job training and education to secure the completion of the apprenticeship.

You will develop and refine your investigative and problem-solving abilities.

By the time you reach the end of your apprenticeship period, you'll have what it takes to face some of the world's toughest engineering challenges - which you could be doing anywhere in the world, thanks to our global reach.
- Maintaining your education to achieving NVQ Level 4 as a minimum and completion of HNC in an electrical/electronic engineering discipline.
- Participation in departmental group activities.
- Ensuring that all training and supporting activities are provided in a reliable and cost-effective manner.
- Continuously improving and optimising training in line with business requirements, latest technology and new opportunities/threats.
- Ensuring that our practices comply with company policy and legislative requirements.

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Your first year gives you grounding in a wide variety of core technical skills, dedicated to achieving your NVQ requirements within a range of mentored placements.
- Year 2 -4 will see you widening and deepening your knowledge, aligned to a specific department or activity.
- Throughout your Apprenticeship, you'll enjoy on and off-the-job training that leads to a number of qualifications in an engineering discipline.
- Creating, implementing, streamlining and supporting effective administration procedures across the SEWS-E group.
- Employee Rights and Responsibility, Core / Function Skills (e.g. Personal Learning and Thinking Skills), towards achieving an NVQ Level 3/4 and ONC/HNC.
- Proactive involvement in departmental activities.
- Project Team member: participating in companywide projects (e.g., new initiatives/technology etc.).
- Carry out other comparable duties as required by the Line Manager.

**ANY SPECIAL CONDITIONS**:

- **Flexible working & travel to remote sites.**SEWS-E operate a number of manufacturing sites overseas. It is a requirement that overseas travel will be required at some time during your apprenticeship.
- **Continuous Learning.**Technology continues to develop. It is essential that our apprentices maintain an awareness of new technologies and services available.
- **Effective communication**with diverse groups/individuals both written and oral; effective customer service skills.

Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Good communication skills (verbal and written)

Ability to mix well with other team members.

Applicants **must** have a minimum of 4 GCSE’s including Maths and English.

2 A Levels or a Level 2 Engineering qualification would be an advantage.
