Lead Ranger

We're looking for a dynamic and experienced countryside professional to lead on the delivery of our nature and climate strategy in the White Peak. We're developing our vision for nature so it's a great time for you to join us.
You'll be supported by property and consultancy colleagues including a Woodland Project Manager, Ecologist, Farming Advisor and Estate Manager and the portfolio leadership team.

Situated in the spectacular setting of the Staffordshire and Derbyshire Peak District. The White Peak incorporates several key areas amounting to over 1700ha. These include: Dovedale; the Manifold Valley; Ilam Park; Ecton Mine, Stanton Moor Edge; Miller's Dale and Ravenstor; and High Wheeldon.
You'll join a dedicated team who have an ambition to care for this area for people, nature and climate. You'll be one of a dedicated and knowledgeable team of countryside professionals including the Lead Ranger at Longshaw, Countryside Manager in the High Peak and a Site Manager delivering a RSPB/NT partnership in the Eastern Moors.
You'll play a key role on the Property Leadership team helping to drive the wider portfolio plan, including visitor business and commercial. The opportunity for personal development and developing your experience is exciting.
What you'll be doing:As Lead Ranger, you'll lead a team of seven Rangers and gardeners who care for the landscape. You’ll plan, develop and coordinate a wide range of capital and cyclical management tasks, commission specialist contractors and continually develop a programme of conservation, access and engagement projects.
You'll use your leadership skills and countryside management experience to drive forward our vision and ambitious plans for conservation.
You'll also play a role in moving forward our Experience Design project at Ilam and Dovedale where we plan to make our places some of the most accessible in the Peak District.
