Pdra - Operando Spectroscopy of Electrochemical

**About Us**

Diamond Light Source is the UK’s national synchrotron science facility. By accelerating electrons to near light-speed, Diamond generates brilliant beams of light from infra-red to X-rays which are used for academic and industry research and development across a range of scientific disciplines including structural biology, physics, chemistry, materials science, engineering, earth, and environmental sciences.

**About the Role**

VerSoX (B07) is a beamline that is largely dedicated to x-ray spectroscopy under ambient-pressure environments. The beamline has been operational since summer 2017 and is used for studies of heterogeneous catalysts under mild reaction conditions and related research, such as electrochemical interfaces. In order to build up experience and expertise in this field, the beamline team also undertakes related experiments at other synchrotron facilities outside the UK.

Other duties include:

- Operate and further develop the beamline’s electrochemical cell programme.
- Support users and in-house researchers using the electrochemical cell.
- Periodically review the relevant literature.
- Prepare and synthesise electrode and membrane materials, including B07’s cluster source.
- Maintain contact with national and international project partners.

**About You**

The post holder will be expected to work occasionally outside normal office hours and carry out some of the work at facilities outside Diamond Light Source.
