The Millennium Boat House, shared with our neighbouring girls’ school, Lady Eleanor Holles, enjoys a prime location on the nearby River Thames and provides the focal point for our renowned Boat Club.

The School was judged to be excellent (the highest possible recognition) across all categories by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) in May 2023. Inspectors found that Hamptonians’ achievements are exceptional across academic and co-curricular areas of School life and concluded that ‘outstanding analytical and thinking skills’ lead to academic achievements ‘far and above national and worldwide averages’. The ISI team also highlighted Hamptonians’ excellent personal development and concluded that ‘Pupils are open-minded and tolerant and have a clear sense of justice, successfully fulfilling the School’s aims for them to make sense of the world, to want to make a difference for good, and to aspire to personal best while supporting those around them with kindness and respect’. **Position**:
**Role Summary**

Hampton is one of the UK’s most successful independent schools and is seeking to appoint a Boat House Keeper/Caretaker.

**The Role**
- The role is based at the Hampton School Millennium Boat House and normal working hours are from 8:00am to 12:00pm. The postholder acts as a key-holder and, for the successful completion of their role, should be prepared to work flexibly and outside their normal working hours in case of emergencies and when required.

**Requirements**:

- Carry out day-to-day maintenance and minor repairs in the Boat House and outside areas
- Report more serious faults to the Facilities Manager, Hampton School and arrange for servicing of all plant and equipment such as alarms, roller doors, kitchen equipment, telephones, lift, heating, foul water pumps, workshop equipment, PAT testing etc. Where possible such visits are to take place in working hours. Where this is not possible the Facilities Manager will make alternative arrangements. All certificates of work are to be passed to the Facilities Manager, Hampton School
- Hoover boat bays, workshop and sweep balcony once a week or as required
- Daily emptying of the waste bins within the Boat House, including the workshop, boat bays, kitchen, club rooms and changing rooms
- Making sure that heating, lighting and alarm systems are working properly
- Maintain cleaning standards and liaise with the Hampton School Cleaning Supervisor and the Boat House Cleaners
- Perform ad-hoc cleaning in case of spillages / accidents
- Carry out a weekly check of the fire alarm system
- Walk the site daily in the morning and check doors and windows for signs of any damage
- Check fuel cans daily and fill accordingly (if fuel cans contaminated from rainwater, they need to be drained, cleaned and refilled with fresh fuel)
- Review Boat House workshop related Risk Assessments on an annual basis and submit to
