Job Introduction
We have an exciting opportunity to join **Transpennine Route Upgrade** as **HSEA Assistant**

The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) is a Programme of activities that is improving the railway between York and Manchester via Leeds and Huddersfield.

Stretching across the North of England, this key 76-mile Transpennine railway serves 23 stations, crosses over and dips under 285 bridges and viaducts, passes through six miles of tunnels, and crosses over 29 level crossings.

Proposed improvements as will deliver a hard-working, reliable railway for passengers, allowing for trains with more seats, more services and faster journey times.

As HSEA Assistant you will provide support to the Central HSEA team by managing the flow of management information for compliance with the Network Rail Health and Safety management System.

This vacancy is Band 5, salary: Circa £27,000 per annum, pro rata.

This is a 12-month secondment opportunity with the potential to be extended or made permanent.

Main Responsibilities
**Some of the key accountabilities of this role are: -**

1. Collate and organise HSEA monthly data from project teams and their suppliers.

2. Undertake routine analysis of key HSEA information to be able to prepare presentations based on these data.

3. Prepare the monthly HSEA brief for distribution to the senior management team - to allow for trends and recommendations to be identified - (to facilitate a strategic reduction in all areas of non-compliance).

4. Assist in the collation of accident and incident investigation documentation and associated records, tracking investigations and actions to completion - enabling appropriate lessons learnt to be cascades to the projects as a whole.

5. Administering the requirements for Track Competencies and safety training for the function.

6. Be a contact point for Health and Safety Managers for controlling documentation.

7. Provide general assistance within the function as directed by Head of HSEA.

**We need you to have**:

- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly excel and power point)
- Good analytical skills
- Able to maintain a confidential system
- Knowledge of health & safety legislation
- To be able to maintain good relations with clients at all levels

**It would be advantageous if you have**:

- Recognised safety qualification, e.g.: NEBOSH General Certificate.
