The Energy Trader will be responsible for implementing and executing clients’ electricity and gas trading strategy and activities. Reporting to the Head of Trading & Pricing they will be responsible for developing the company’s ability to trade energy whilst building a market leading trading functionality to deliver an unparalleled flexible purchasing offering to our existing and potential customers.

You will be accountable for the maintenance and development of comprehensive risk strategies for Client-Market exposure and budget risk covering electricity and gas purchasing.

You will manage a portfolio of power and gas trades for Industrial & Commercial users of energy.

The Risk Manager will play a pivotal role in leading on all departmental activities and delivering the key business objectives.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Manage and optimise BPG’s energy portfolio
- Identify and manage risks associated with trading activities, including price volatility and market liquidity.
- Build and maintain relationships with counterparties, TPI’s, and other market participants.
- Identify and manage risks associated with trading activities.
- Undertaking the tendering process for gas and electricity and produce analysis and recommendations to the wider team
- Responsible for the issue and accuracy of Procurement Reporting.
- General Communication, Proactively and effectively advise clients on company's Procurement Services.
- Reporting and integration BPG renewable assets and PPAs
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Provide input and analysis into the development of new products.
- Have a logical, analytical and pragmatic approach to problem solving.

**NETWORKING / RELATIONSHIP-BUILDING**
- Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with partner organisations and affiliates to ensure BPG activities exploit opportunities and are complementary
- Be an active member of relevant professional organisations

**GENERAL**
- Detailed understanding of energy markets and drivers and non-commodities
- Understand proprietary trading models and all other fundamental analysis carried out by the desk and actively participate in the development of the analyses and contribute to the ongoing effectiveness of such work.
- Monitoring customers energy hedge position reports and transacted trades conducted by the traders
- Ensure information systems are operated to the required standard to maintain accurate and secure records.
- Supporting senior team members in formulating strategy, pre-trade analysis, execution, post-trade analysis, allocations and settlement across multiple strategies
- Work collaboratively across BPG Departments.
- Work with relevant colleagues to ensure that the department’s work meets all organisational and legal frameworks, including but not exhaustively health and safety, safeguarding policies, GDPR, licensing and equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Draft reports and compile statistics on activity as required.
- Ensure up to date record keeping on activity and clear information management.

**ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE**
- A minimum of 2 years Energy Sector Experience
- Graduate level in an analytically based discipline i.e. finance, maths, economics, science or equivalent experience
- Prior experience in trading or other front office role
- Experience and understanding of working within commodities
- Market analysis/Trading/Power scheduler experience required
