**Overview**
Pertemps Recruitment on behalf of Buckinghamshire Council has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Woodland Carbon Officer to join the Energy & Climate Change team in their Aylesbury office (HP20 area). Working alongside the team you will play an importantrole in providing support and some technical guidance regarding tree planting and maintenance initiatives that the Climate Change Team is involved with. This includes liaison with community groups and other external stakeholders with a vested interest in trees,as required by the Team
**About the role**
Nature-based solutions, including tree planting (and other 'green infrastructure'), to climate change are included in the Council's draft Climate Change and Air Quality Strategy. As such, the Climate Change Team is currently managing a Council Land Tree PlantingProgramme, a Local Authority Treescapes Fund bid, a Community Tree Planting Task and Finish Group, and aspects of Buckinghamshire Council's Queen's Green Canopy project. We work closely with the Arboriculture Team and a Tree Strategy is being developed thatwill have to take account of the role trees play regarding mitigating and adapting to climate change and how climate change affects trees
As a Junior Woodland Carbon Officer you will have a number of responsibilities including, but not limited to the following:

- Help review procurement specifications for, and bids regarding, woodland creation and maintenance at a Council Land Tree Planting site.
- Contribute to the production of technical plans, designs and / or specifications as required.
- Organise meetings with internal and external stakeholders as required regarding tree projects.
- Provide advice on arboricultural matters, where required.
- Collect, enter, process and analyse natural capital and ecosystem services information in relation to woodland using appropriate systems (e.g. Woodland Carbon Code; Defra's Enabling a Natural Capital Approach).
- Assist in researching developments and best practice in relation to trees and forestry matters.
- Support the development and ratification of agreements between the Council and external parties regarding the provision of funding.
- Contribute to the successful delivery of projects as part of a project team.
- Assist with the preparation of documentation and materials to support and/or promote tree (in relation climate change) work.
- Represent the team at internal events, or externally if required, to share and collate information.
- Plan and organise their workload
This is a temporary position for six months, though there is potential for this to be extended further. The pay rate is £12.99 per hour, and you will be working part time, one day per week. You will be working remotely on the main (or in the office if preferred)but you will be expected into the Aylesbury office one Tuesday per month to catch up with the team. You will also be expected to attend occasional site visits where tree planting may occur.
The Aylesbury office is conveniently situated in the town centre (HP20 area) with great transport links including a local train station and excellent road connections to the M25, M1, M4 and M40
**About you**
We are looking for someone with knowledge of schemes such as the Woodland Carbon Code, British Standards, certifications and qualifications in relation to tree planting and maintenance.
You must have the ability to create and use spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations and general documents
Due to the frequent liaison activities, excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
You will need to be highly accurate with attention to detail. You must be able to prioritise and work to deadlines.
You take responsibility for your work and are trusted to perform your job to the best of your ability.
