Marine Barge Master

**Responsibilities**:

- Oversee daily operations of a floating dumb barge and lead the delivery of rock armour to various coastal locations across the UK
- Ensure efficient and safe transportation of materials, coordinating with project managers and managing the barge crew, ensuring timely delivery
- Ensure compliance and safety regulations, maritime laws and environmental standards are met.
- Report and coordinate maintenance and repairs and conduct inspections to ensure the barge’s seaworthiness
- To schedule maintenance and repairs ; completion of daily project reports and liaising with relevant authorities as necessary
- Coordinate loading and unloading operations, ensuring the proper security of cargo.

Skills and experience required for the Barge Master role:

- Minimum of three years of experience as a Bargemaster or in a similar maritime role.
- Valid Master Mariner Certificate or equivalent certification.
- In-depth knowledge of maritime regulations, safety protocols, and navigation procedures.
- Experience in transporting heavy cargo, especially rock armour or similar materials.
- Strong leadership and communication skills. Good communication skills and documentation/reporting skills
- Ability to make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Familiarity with coastal waters and navigation around the UK.
