**PM Transport Planner**
**Reporting to: Operations Manager**
**Purpose of the Role**
To plan, organize and control the day to day transport and warehouse activities in the organization to ensure that goods are delivered, on time, within budget and to standard as set out in the KPIs for the company. Generally, this is a 97% delivery on time and in full. In conjunction with the AM Transport planner, Operations Manager have responsibility for the vehicles, their condition, efficiency, maintenance and satisfying all legal requirements including drivers CPC and Health and Safety. In conjunction with the AM Transport Planner and Operations Manager help achieve various KPIs for overall gross profit, OTIF, and quality KPIs. These KPIs include direct labour costs, agency costs, and maintenance costs. With the support of the Operations Manager be responsible for the warehouse and housekeeping. The PM Transport Planner will maintain a safe and clean environment to ensure the safety of all is assured. To ensure that all collected freight is safely loaded onto the outbound trunking trailers and that all freight is scanned onto the correct trailers and secured bound for onward travel to the Pallet Network Hub.
Hours are: 11am to Close of Shift (approx. 8pm)
**Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities**
- Responsibility for Drivers, their daily collections and drops and the efficient planning of their activity
- Ensuring all collections are unloaded and loaded onto the out bound trailers and scanned for onward travel to the Pallet Network Hub.
- Responsibility for managing the transport activity within the organisation
- Assisting the Operations Manager with the responsibility for managing the Operator’s Licence including fleet maintenance, tacho management and compliance, insurance claims and vehicle reporting
- Facilitate transport meetings when necessary
- Ensuring the AM Transport Planner’s schedule for the vehicles on the Pallet Network fleet is met daily, and all collections are assigned (both Pallet Network collections and Implant collections), ensuring we follow TPN’s auditable processes accurately and efficiently
- Plan the schedule for the vehicles on the General Haulage fleet, ensuring that the daily budget for each vehicle is met and the overall budgeted KPI is achieved
- Working with the Sales Executive ensuring that customer expectations are met, and the customer is informed of any difficulties
- Ensure that we maintain relevant fuel tank levels weekly for drivers to refuel from
- Working with the Customer Services Team to maintain quality records, especially damages and investigate to ensure long term solutions are achieved
- With the AM Transport Planner and Operations Manager determine the human resources required for the efficient running of the business operations
- Comply with standard operating procedures, and suggest improvements, for driver operations in conjunction with the Operations Manager.
- Ensure targets set are maintained throughout the business
- Ensure implementation and adherence to health and safety procedures in conjunction with the Operations Manager
- Implement with the Operations Manager continual improvement processes
- Maintain a high standard of discipline throughout, monitor attendance, time keeping in conjunction with the Operations Manager.
- Ensure efficient collaboration and co-ordination between relevant roles and departments
**Education and Experience**
- At least 2 year’s experience in Transport Planning
- Experience with a Pallet Network operation preferred
- FLT Licence is essential
- HGV Class 2 is essential, HGV Class 1 is preferred
- Proven experience with a TMS System
- In depth knowledge and experience in transport and warehousing processes and techniques
- Knowledge of quality systems and standards
- Knowledge of drivers hours is essential
- Knowledge of health and safety standards and compliance standards within the industry
- Knowledge of process improvement techniques
- Knowledge of human resource principles and practice
- Solid computer skills
