Job Purpose:

- To contribute to the maintenance of a high-quality careering service within the home/hospital.
- To work with all staff in promoting and meeting the individual needs of service users.

Main Tasks:

- Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen in accordance with food hygiene regulations, using the correct chemicals on the correct surfaces/appliances.
- Assist the cook, as appropriate, in the preparation of food.
- Wash all pots, pans and other equipment used in the kitchen in accordance with the service’s cleaning schedules.
- Replace all equipment correctly and in a clean condition after use.
- Ensure at the end of each shift that everything is cleaned and the floor is swept and mopped ready for the next day’s business.
- Receive and check deliveries and store provisions as instructed by the Cook/Chef.
- Issue provisions as authorised by the Cook/Chef.
- Assist in the serving of food to service users as required.
- Report any equipment defects to the Cook/Chef.
- Immediately inform the Cook/Chef of any variations in the Chill Store temperatures.
- Carry out all duties in accordance with internal policies and national regulations including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
- Where appropriate, deputise for the Cook/Chef as required. Date of Issue: June 2012

**Responsibilities**:

- Be conversant with the Health and Social Care Act 2008/Care Act 2014, ensuring that they are strictly adhered to at all times.
- Where appropriate be conversant with the Mental Health Act 1983 as amended by the Mental Health Act 2007.
- Ensure that Health and Safety procedures and regulations are adhered to.

Training and Development:

- Be an active, reflective participant in regular supervision and appraisal.
- Through appraisal identify training needs and participate in appropriate courses to meet these needs.
- Attend courses and seminars, including all mandatory training, as required by the Registered Manager.
- Participate in the induction of new employees to the service.

Other Duties:

- Discuss and put forward new ideas/suggestions to the management team which could contribute toward enhanced service user experience.
- Attend any planned meetings as and when required by the Registered Manager.

Standard Responsibilities
- Be fully conversant with the Company’s Health & Safety Policy. Take all reasonable precautions for the health and safety of yourself, service users, colleagues, visitors and the overall security of the premises and their contents.
- Comply with all requirements relating to Personal Protective Equipment and safe working practices.
- Co-operate and comply with risk assessments and ensure that risks are identified and reported as they arise.
- Be aware of and adhere to policies and procedures which are applicable to the role, including any local procedures.
- Be a flexible member of the team providing cover for other relevant staff during absences.
- Undertake any other duties that may be required appropriate to the post holder’s grade, experience and competence.
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of all information that is processed by you in the course of your employment in accordance with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 2018 (and any subsequent legislative revisions and additions.)
- Comply and keep up to date with the requirements of legislation such as the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and Computer Misuse Act 1990.
- Throughout the performance of your duties conduct yourself in a manner, which demonstrates respect and aim to realise Equilibrium Healthcare’s philosophy of maximum service user involvement in all aspects of your work.
