**Role**:Post-Surgery Personal Care Assistant
- **Hours**:25-27 hours per week, roughly 5 hours per day but flexible
- **Pay**: £20 per hour
- **Duration**:4 weeks, with possibility of extension based on recovery progress

I am a Deaf and autistic 29-year old man with a physical health condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, and will be having some major surgery in mid-February. It is important for me that you understand the importance of structure and reliability, and the need for non-verbal communication (either through BSL or writing things down). As during this time, I can'tuse public transport, being able to drive is important

**Responsibilities**:
**Personal Care**
- Assist with bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Aid in toileting and bathroom needs.
- Provide support in maintaining personal hygiene and cleanliness (especially the first 2 weeks where showering is not allowed)
- Monitor and assist with any mobility challenges.

**Meal Preparation**
- Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with dietary requirements.
- Ensure proper hydration and nutrition

**Assistance with Daily Activities**
- Assistance with any necessary errands or grocery shopping.
- Provide support for light physio exercises
- Assist with getting in and out of bed or chairs.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as tidying up living areas and doing laundry
- Support in medication management, reminding me to take prescribed medications

**Communication**
- Maintain open communication with me
- Making sure to communicate in an accessible way, through non-verbal means
- Understand that I can sometimes say things I don't mean due to direct nature

**Companionship and Travel**
- Offer emotional support and companionship during recovery.
- Engage in non-strenuous recreational activities to enhance well-being
- Drive and accompany me to appointments, providing companionship and assistance

**Pet Care**
- Comfort and care for my 2-year old cat
- Ensure that my cat's needs, such as feeding, sorting litter trays and basic care, are met.

Personal Specification:

- Previous experience as a Personal Care Assistant or in a similar role
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect my privacy.
- Knowledge of basic caregiving techniques and practices
- Willingness to adapt to my evolving needs during the recovery process.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy, patience, and understanding
- Ability to communicate effectively using non-verbal methods
- Strong organisational skills, reliability and able to multitask
- Respectful, inclusive, and affirming of diverse gender identities.
- Positive attitude towards disabled people

**Job Types**: Part-time, Temporary contract

**Salary**: £20.00 per hour
