**The Civil & Structural Engineer role is based within our Devonport Royal Dockyard business area.**

Comprising of 14 dry docks, four miles of waterfront and 25 tidal berths, Devonport is the base for numerous surface vessels as well as the base and refit centre for the Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarines. Devonport has also recently been selected asthe base port for the Navy's new Type 26 frigates and will become the maintenance centre for the future submarine programme.

**The role**
**The difference our new Civil & Structural Engineer will make**
As a Civil & Structural Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will join part of the wider Facilities Engineering Technical Authority that is responsible for all technical aspects of through life management of the infrastructure acrossDevonport Royal Dockyard to ensure the wide range of facilities are operational and fit for purpose.
Day to day, you'll support planned maintenance and inspection of a variety of civil and structural assets across the site. This will support through life maintenance of our assets at Devonport Dockyard including waterfront berths and wharfs, concrete dock structuresand building structures.

**Essential experience**
- An understanding of civil structures and associated through life issues.
- Self-motivated and ability to deliver to a schedule and deadlines.
- You'll be either educated to degree level in Civil, Structural or related engineering discipline, or hold a level 4/5 STEM qualification (HNC/HND) with substantial relevant experience.
- You need to possess good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with others, including internal stakeholders and customers.
- A willingness to adapt and learn.
- You will need to satisfy security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
