**The Opportunity**

We have an opportunity for an Assistant to work within the Trusts and Estates team in our Bath office, however remote working will also be available. This role involves working with the Court of Protection Solicitor supporting individuals who are unable to make decisions about their personal health, finance or welfare.
As an Assistant, you will be an integral part of the support provided to our clients and their families to achieve their objectives and balancing that up with the available funds. Clients often need help with care packages, property purchase and adaptations, budgets, benefits and a host of other issues which may arise. This opportunity involves a lot of client contact, particularly with elderly clients and their families with the administration of their financial and general affairs including those for whom partners in the team are appointed as professional attorney or deputy. The role will involve, among other general tasks, managing client’s day to day financial matters, ensuring bills are paid and care funding received where necessary, arranging packages of care, liaising with care homes, local authorities and members of the client’s family.

**Key** **Responsibilities**
Responsibilities are broadly but not limited to:

- Effectively manage an individual caseload (with supervision where appropriate).
- Attend to clients of the firm in the office or elsewhere if needed.
- Work in a collegiate and collaborative way within an immediate team and wider firm environment.
- Communicate promptly and effectively both internally to colleagues and externally to clients.
- Maintain your continuing professional development requirements and take an active interest in furthering your knowledge within the field of law.
- To carry out your work for both colleagues and clients to the highest possible standard, having regard to the firm’s standards, procedures and core values.
- To regularly attend, and be involved in preparation for, team meetings.
- To attend and be involved in preparation for marketing and business development events and activities.

**Requirements**:

- Experience of working within a legal environment is advantageous
- Proficient IT and keyboard skills (including Word and Excel)
- Excellent inter-personal skills when dealing with clients and others
- Ability to use initiative and demonstrate a can—do attitude to solving problems
- Willingness to learn
- Ownership of tasks through to completion
- Organisational skills and high attention to detail
- Must be discreet when dealing with the Firm’s confidential affairs
