Job Overview:
We are currently recruiting for a part time team member who can work weekends who is detail-oriented and customer-focused Optical Assistant to join our team. As an Optical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in assisting optometrists and opticians in providing high-quality eye care services to our patients. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting with patient examinations, maintaining accurate records, and providing exceptional customer service.

- Assist optometrists and opticians in conducting eye examinations and vision tests
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure all necessary equipment is ready for use
- Take accurate measurements of patients' eyes using specialised equipment
- Assist patients in selecting eyeglasses or contact lenses based on their prescription and personal preferences
- Educate patients on proper eyewear care and maintenance
- Process orders for eyewear and contact lenses, including verifying insurance coverage and collecting payments
- Perform basic repairs and adjustments on eyeglasses as needed
- Maintain inventory of eyewear frames, contact lenses, and other optical supplies
- Ensure cleanliness and organisation of the optical dispensary area

No two days are ever the same at Specsavers. As an optical assistant, you’ll serve a number of customers with differing needs throughout the day. You’ll need to be able to get stuck in and work with others in a busy team environment, as well as have the know-how to quickly provide solutions and helpful guidance on our products and services. But don’t worry - to support you in meeting a wide range of customer needs, you’ll have continuous support from your directors, managers and colleagues on the shop floor. Optical assistants are an integral part of any Specsavers store team and crucial to our customer service journey. Individuals with a real passion for both healthcare and retail really thrive in this role, as it’s the perfect position for those who love to make a real difference to other people’s lives.

Our optical assistants are the face of Specsavers, providing expert advice to our customers on our range of fashionable frames and guiding those who are trying contact lenses for the first time.

To secure this role you will need at least 2 years previous customer experience within a Retail or Optical role and have a real passion for providing fantastic customer care.

We'll continue to develop and expand your knowledge of vision problems, eyecare and our products. You've already demonstrated that you're a natural when it comes to customer care, you're articulate, good with people with an organised approach and always happy to help, so you'll fit right in as a valuable member of our friendly store team, joining a business that's going places.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience as an Optical Assistant or in a similar role preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively
- Proficient computer skills for record keeping and order processing

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: £6.60-£11.64 per hour
