Job description

We are seeking qualified nursery practitioners to join our team.

Our nurseries form an important part of the School as it is the beginning of the Albyn journey which will take the majority of the children through to S6. With the nurseries located on the grounds of the School, the children benefit from our sports facilities, libraries and specialist teaching staff who visit the nurseries for weekly lessons. This familiarity with the School and staff eases the transition when nursery children progress into primary 1.

With emphasis on the importance of play, nursery children learn language and literacy skills, develop their first steps towards numeracy and build a strong foundation for future learning. We also instil habits of good health and wellbeing and provide children with a calm, stimulating and secure environment in which they can grow in confidence, make friends and most importantly, have fun.

Albyn School Nursery is a registered childcare provider with the Care Inspectorate in Scotland. Our staff are trained and experienced in providing a high quality of care and deliver early years education based on the guidelines of the ‘Curriculum for Excellence’.

35 per week, Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am and 6pm, during our Nursery Term.

Full time hours are preferred but we will consider part time hours (salary will be pro rated for part time hours).

**Salary and Benefits**
- Salary based on working 40 weeks per year during our Nursery Term.
- 2 week Christmas closure.

**Person Specification**

One or more of the following qualifications (or their equivalent) would be regarded as highly desirable for the post holder:

- SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) SCQF Level 7
- HNC Childhood Practice (GK9T 15)
- HNC Childhood Practice (GT6P 47)

The post holder should ideally have the following experience:

- Recent experience in a similar nursery;
- An understanding of current issues and developments in nursery provision;
- A knowledge of current regulations regarding nursery provision;
- The appointment will be dependent upon a satisfactory PVG report from Disclosure Scotland, receipt of satisfactory references, registry with SSSC and confirmation of Right to Work in the UK.

Pay: £27,515.11 per year
