**The Desford site was Caterpillar’s first venture outside of the US and is home to our **world-famous Backhoe Loader & Compact Wheel Loaders.
As an **Assembly Technician **you will be part of a busy, face paced Production Team who work to have high Safety & Quality values. Every day you make a difference and support the business to build products that meet our customers quality and quantity expectations.
Whilst doing the work, you will learn about Lean Manufacturing and techniques used to help ensure you do is right first time. In your first week you will join an in-depth induction to learn about Caterpillar, the work and the values we work to so you are set up for success.
**Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to**:
- Operate production line equipment such as conveyor, hoists, lifts and airlines
- Monitor the production process and carry out basic testing and quality checks
- Assemble goods on a production line using hand and DC tooling
- Follow Standard Work Instruction
- Carry out cleaning and basic maintenance of work areas and machinery
- Report equipment faults to supervisory staff
- Build up components and sub-assemblies into finished electrical or mechanical products
- Fit parts to machinery and equipment
- Make quality control checks on products
- Contribute to Continuous Improvement activities
- Participate in RIW’s

**You should be able to**:
- Work across multiple areas of the Assembly process
- Work on your own initiative when required

- Have an eye for detail
- Operate to tight deadlines and cycle times
- Use hand/power tools and lifting equipment
**NB. The panel cannot make assumptions when shortlisting therefore please demonstrate your qualifications and experience on your CV relevant to the criteria outlined.
- Demonstrates high level of assembly or mechanical aptitude and accuracy with a good working knowledge of assembly practices.
- Able to read, comprehend and follow verbal and written instruction/procedures
- Able to work closely with others is imperative, requiring team participation to achieve the agreed objectives.
- Effective communication both written and verbal to liaise with various levels of the organisation
- Be fully flexible to the job role and responsibilities (willing to work overtime)
- Willing to undertake training/required learning
- Previous experience within a manufacturing assembly environment.
- Relevant NVQ Level 2 or higher

**Salary**:£22,923.08 rising to £24,157.31 as triggers are met within role
**Contract**:Permanent
