**Learning Support Assistant - Aspiring Speech and Language Therapist - SEN - Secondary - Surrey**

**The School**:
The school is based near Hindhead, Surrey and provides support for secondary aged pupils who have a wide range of moderate earning and behavioural needs. All students that attend the school have a designated Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) which detailstheir specific needs in terms of the care and support they will have access to. The needs of the students are considered to be mild compared with other special schools in the area.

**Summary**:
**Specialist secondary school for students with a range of learning needs such as autism, down's syndrome, speech and language challenges and social, emotional needs. The school also has a provision for deaf students.

**Classes range from 6-8 in size with a focus on implementing effective communication techniques

**Therapy rooms and designated areas for specialist support from a range of therapists including SALTs, Occupational therapists, psychologists and counsellors

**An Integrated Therapeutic Approach and extensive 1-1 support for every pupil

**Specialist communication methods such as Makaton and PECS

**The school likes to focus on LSAs who know their objectives and who would like to continue their journey to become a speech and language therapist

**A psychology degree or specialist SEN training is highly desirable
