**SWIMMING INSTRUCTOR**

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Primary objective for the Swimming Instructor will be**:

- To teach one to one and group setting and a varying age and ability as per Swim Englands learn to swim framework
- To deliver high quality lessons inline with the companies expected standards and schemes of work
- To deliver the companies internal water safety competencies “Swim Safer, Smarter, Stronger”
- To deliver both in and out of the water, providing explanations and demonstrating appropriate swimming techniques for skill level.
- To carry out continued assessments and update the child's progression via the tablet after each lessons
- To adhere to all health and safety protocols as stipulated in the company's policies and procedures
- To continue your professional development through various CPDs hosted by the company
- To maximise the retention of swim school participants through quality standards, motivation and customer care.
- To ensure strong communication links between yourself, swim manager, reception and duty management.
- To deal with customer enquiries, feedback and concerns in a professional manner.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills
SEQ Level 1 Swimming Assistant Teaching Course

SEQ Level 2 Swimming Teacher Course

NPLQ or NRSTC

*Other qualifications such as STA will be considered with intent to upskill to IOS level 2

**Personal**

Among the personal characteristics sought the applicant:

- Will be able to communicate well with both children and adults in a teaching setting.
- Will be able to gain acceptance and respect from colleagues and customers.
- Will be able to build strong relationships with customers, colleagues and teachers.
- Will be able to meet the demands of the role by having some flexibility in their working hours when required.

**DBS**

The position of Swimming Instructor is classed as a regulated post and therefore requires a DBS Disclosure. It will be necessary for the post holder to be submitted for a DBS check.
